China May Deliver 300 of Type 99 Main Battle Tank to Pakistan

According to reports, china may deliver a total of 300 of Type 99 Main Battle Tank to Pakistan. Pakistan is already testing the Type 99 Main Battle Tank given the unsatisfactory performance of the VT-4 and Oplot-M. VT-4 is the export variant of the MBT-3000, while the Oplot-M is a Ukranian Tank. Pakistan is looking to upgrade its inventory of tanks in order to satisfy the needs of the armed forces from 2017 to 2025. After the successful testing of Type 99 Main Battle Tank, it will be decided which tanks will to acquire.

Defense experts have welcomed this new development with open arms. The Type 99 Main Battle Tank would serve as a cheap and ideal replacement for Pakistan Army’s fleets of T80UD, Al-Zarrar, Type 85, Type 69, and Type 59 MBTs. The fleets under Pakistan Army as of right now are quite old and can’t possibly create with a modern line of tanks in huge numbers. Type 99 Main Battle Tank was fielded by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. It is a third-generation tank and a Chinese variant of the Russia T-72 MBT. Type 99 Main Battle Tank incorporates the autoloader, hull, the main gun and armor from the T-72 Russian MBT. If the deal between Pakistan and China on this front goes through, the Type 99 Main Battle Tank should also serve as an ideal opponent to the Indian T-90MS.

Pakistan is doing exceptionally well at the moment in carving out important deals on two crucial fronts; infrastructure and defense. China has been a great benefactor of Pakistan and hopefully will remain so in the years to come. With China having invested billions of dollar in Pakistan, even more so recently in the form of China-Pak Economic Corridor, more such deals, even powerful, could come through in the future. As for the infrastructure, the government is bringing in foreign investments not short of billions of dollars to finance power generation projects in Pakistan. With Operation Zarb-e-Azb, Pakistan is at a constant battle with terrorists and quite successfully. If things keep heading the way they are, Pakistan has a bright future ahead.

1509 Share on Facebook Tweet on Twitter Defense experts have reported that China may deliver to Pakistan 300 Type 99 main battle tanks, reported defence-blog.com. Pakistan has started test trials of latest upgrade of Type-99 main battle tank after unsatisfactory VT-4 (export version of MBT-3000) and Oplot-M (Ukrainian tank) tests. After the tests will be decided which will be the basis for a tank army in the period from 2017 to 2025. Defense experts also have welcomed the new development as the new MBT would be an ideal and cheap replacement for Pakistan Army’s ageing second-line Fleets of T80UD , Al-Zarrar, Type 85 ,Type 69 and Type 59 Main Battle Tanks. The Type 99 is a third-generation main battle tank (MBT) fielded by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. It is one of many Chinese variants of the T-72 since it incorporates the autoloader, advanced Russian armor, hull, and the main gun from the Russian tank. The new tank also has to be a response to the Indian T-90MS. India has started talks with Russia for the purchase of T-90MS main battle tanks.

Looks like war is upon us... Very soon. Time for new mapping :D

But on serious note. China and Pakistan might attack India. Time to go for shopping. Chinese are arming Pakistan and all these new weapons will be delivered in 3 or so time

T-80UDs n AZ's aren't going anywhere.... The replacement of older type-59s,69s and Type90IIMs etc is due...

You can't replace all of them when you are producing only 50 AKs per annum... Hopefully we will see the upgraded AKII in 2016.

But let's see which tank wins.. Oplot M (offered with 60% ToT,MBT3000 or Type99)...

MBT-3000 has failed in trials though... With Oplots also developing issues (which Ukranians were ready to correct)... Only time will tell.

then what about our very own Al Khalid. Instead of buying the tanks, upgrade Al Khalid and create infrastructure to roll out tanks at a faster rate. I suggest, Poland's obrum stealth tank features may be incorporated in Al - Khalid or Al Haider. If Pak Army still want to buy tanks then go for these.

:raise::raise::raise::raise:

Well it's gonna replaced Al-zarrar T-80UD T 59 69 and 85 so are these planned in 000's???

Which variant is Pakistan Getting Type 99 or Type 99A2?

so Al-Khalid will stay as usual more numbers will roll out.... After Ukranian Correct the Issues of Oplot M it'll replace T-80UD and Al-Zarrar under 60% TOT and Type-99 replace Type 69 59 and 90's

AK program isn't going anywhere... Although it had suffered delays due to financial crisis ...

UDs n AZs neither...

Any new tank will replace the older Type series...

It was in news in PDF that Pakistan will test four type of MBT
MBT2000
Oplot M
Type99
????
Is this it?
No fourth tank?

Also which Varient we are interested in? Type99 A2?
If numbers are 300 then it will replace Type59,69,85 probably and number may increase with time.

@DESERT FIGHTER @Dazzler
Plz keep updating us about these new candidates. Like engine,APS,armaments, tracking systems etc etc.
Soon such threads will fill with T90MS vs T99A2 discussions

type-99 is a step backwards, i don't understand why theres this big need for tanks, they mean next to nothing in an indo-pak sense, can't the army just opt for IFVs?

Are you crazy?

Why does armor doesn't mean anything in indo-Pak scenario?

Armor is always the offensive punch of any ground force. Tanks are important. We field thousands of tanks through the plains of Punjab and deserts of Sindh. These tanks form a very credible deterrence against any indian misadventure.

who will protect them there basically isn't a strong SAM defenece network, the army still uses stingers, SA-7s, AAA batteries, its just pointless, the airfoce is too small and theres no real air defence, they'll be wiped out. its better to invest in A SAM network before thinking about this bullshit.
