China-made UOS adapted to popular software, first step to replace Windows-cnTechPost

Unity Operating System (UOS), an operating system developed by China-based software designers, is fully adapting to industry chain partners, Zhang Muliang, deputy general manager of Union Tech, said at an event recently.

Union Tech has included a list of adaptations on the official website, including 360 safe browsers, Firefox, Chrome and other popular software that have been adapted.

At present, Union Tech has launched extensive and in-depth cooperation with Loongson, Feiteng, Shenwei, Kunpeng, Zhaoxin, Haiguang and other manufacturers, and has launched all-round compatibility with mainstream domestic device manufacturers and hundreds of software manufacturers.

They also hopes that more partners can participate in the adaptation work of the unified operating system UOS.

UOS is divided into desktop version and server version. The desktop version uses an independently developed desktop environment.

The system can support domestic CPU platforms such as x86, Loongson, Shenwei, ARM, etc., and can replace the Microsoft Windows operating system to meet the needs of different users for office, life, and entertainment.

UOS and Loongson have been working closely through several months. Compatibility and adaptation have been completed. Recently, the unified operating system official website has been launched, and users can go and download.

You can also download the installation packages from here: Download UOS, China-made operating system

Earlier reports said that the official website of the UOS has been launched, and UOS external testing and opening plans have been released. Now UOS has fully adapted to Loongson desktop computers and servers.

The UOS Loongson version has been applied to Loongson 3A3000 series, Loongson 3B3000 series, 3A4000 series, and Loongson 3B4000 series. Loongson computer is based on 64-bit Loongson 3 CPU, which can meet the performance requirements of daily office, word processing, Internet access, audio and video playback, and 3D applications.
A large number of complete machine manufacturers have already produced Loongson computers and introduced them to the market.

UOS is the paid version. The free version is available on deepin.org

BTW, I recently tried QQ Browser (by Tencent). It's really cool. I especially liked the animations on error pages. Makes Microsoft Edge, FireFox, etc. looked like designed by retards in comparison.

Same goes for UOS/Deepin. Those animations when u click an icon are really cool. Makes using Windows, Linux, etc. seemed like for dullards in comparison...

Why to develop an OS based on an already open source OS just for the sake of competition? There are others ways to earn $$ but this is a shady one.

Union Tech, a Chinese operating system developer, said today that its UnionTech OS Server 20 Enterprise-C is now available.
The system is a second commercial distribution of Linux operating system based on CentOS 8.1, and uses Linux kernel4.18, GCC8.3, Glibc2.28 and other components as the system's operating environment.

It integrates DDE, the desktop operating environment developed by Union Tech, and commonly used GUI applications, as well as a large number of third-party software, jointly developed software and related open source software.

UnionTech OS Server 20 Enterprise-C is designed for general scenarios (web services, office, database, finance, ERP, etc.), cloud, virtualization, container, big data, artificial intelligence, national secrets, etc. It supports custom installation based on scenario requirements.

It supports user-defined installation of different component packages according to scene requirements, and provides ISO, container and cloud image deliverables for environment deployment.

Is this just another Linux Distro?

Yea but i think they are adding a lot of bells and whistles so it is as user friendly as windows. Since linux core kernel is open source there is no dependency on any external code for them. IN addition it must also run well on their native chips they are making.

China has no choice and there is a need to do it fast.
She is dealing with the most unethical rival in the globe today. This is an accelerated decoupling process.

If it is another Linux distro then no great shakes. Interesting would have been a new OS / kernel written from scratch.

IN addition it must also run well on their native chips they are making.

All those Chinese chips are also based on American ones ( MIPS, ARM etc ).

Nothing new here to be honest. We have seen similar Linux based OS systems before, but all of them haven't achieved any real mass popularity with consumers. There's a reason for that. I don't think this latest one will be any different.

UOS sets future goals: replace Windows in government and public institutions

The goal of the Unity Operating System (UOS) when it was established was to keep China from being controlled by others in the field of basic software, forming China's voice and advantages, Union Tech said on Thursday.

On January 14, 2020, Microsoft officially stopped supporting Windows 7 systems, including software updates, security updates or repairs, and technical support for any issues.

On January 15, the official version of UOS was released to partners, which is a desktop and server operating system based on the Linux kernel.

On January 15, the official version of UOS was released to partners, which is a desktop and server operating system based on the Linux kernel.

Recently, the South Korean government has also drafted a strategy to prepare to completely replace Windows 7 based on the Linux and open source operating systems of its government and public institutions' operating systems to get rid of its dependence. This plan will be completed by 2026

UOS was developed by the team of Union Tech. The company was officially established on November 14, 2019. It is composed of many domestic companies engaged in operating systems for a long time, including Wuhan Deepin Technology, ArcherMind Technology, and ZTE New Pivots.

Union Tech stated that its goal has been very clear since its inception: to solve the current problems of China's information technology industry, especially in the field of basic software, which is subject to people's confidants, and to form China's right to speak and advantages in the future development path of the information technology field.

The difficulty of operating system development is ecological construction. In this regard, UOS has been strongly supported by industry partners since its release.

This allows UOS to complete the adaptation of four architectures and six CPUs in a short period of time, paving the way for the subsequent adaptation of software and hardware ecological products.

UOS is based on the Linux kernel research and development, supporting notebooks, desktops, all-in-ones and workstations of chip platforms such as Godson, Feiteng, Zhaoxin, Haiguang, Kunpeng, and servers.

Union Tech said that in the future, UOS may replace Microsoft's Windows system in the Chinese government and public institutions.

The company also said that it looks forward to making breakthroughs in the civilian sector and gaining more revenue.

So it's a industrial version of Deep in Linux?
The title is misleading and feels cheap TBH.
But Deepin is arguably the most polished and beautiful Linux distro.
I respect them.

Problem with new OS/Kernel is that every third party app out there must be rewritten to meet with new OS standards. But a linux distro approaching windows level usability for end consumer is something. And their aim is not to compete with windows in market but secure their government networks.
