China issues normal visas to J&K journalists

HK people are as Chinese as those Manchus, Wu, Li, Yue who were assimilated.

The Hong Kong population, is made up of immigrants from the mainland. My ancestors for example, were from Guangdong province.

Check out the demographics of Hong Kong. It is 95% Han Chinese.

Whatever we can do, our countrymen in the mainland can do as well. We've already seen the example of Shanghai, which is set to pass Hong Kong in terms of GDP.

Actions speak louder than words...no need to discuss about it......
Just read the main article and be happy..U wont gain anything by discussing

But at the same time, India is also "reviving" the issue of Chinese troop presence in Pakistan's Northern areas.

An issue will always be found.

India is not finding any issues...it is reporting anything that is not ordinary....i hope you can understand the difference....The issue of visa was first created by China remember? Before China used to issue normal visas remember. Therefore this was an "Issue" created by China for no apparent reason, just to aggravate relations which thanks to you guys is making India embrace the West and the rest of Asia more closely. China needs to grow up and act like a mature responsible leader if that is the position it so greatly desires...

Why can't China and India learn from the US and Soviet Union?

Lets not fight each other for resources. Instead, join hands and exploit the Africans and Arabs!

As long as India remains independent and isn't a tool of the US to surround us, I don't care if they call us the Great Satan. Whats the use of friendship on the mouth, US sings about cooperation even as it surrounds us.

I am aware that the population is from Guangdong.

They were not Hans, till they were assimilated.

That is the difference.

Anyway we have discussed this enough!

That is true, cultural identities have always been fluid.

When did you guys become "Indians"? Only after the creation of British India, before that you were not united by a common culture or ethnicity.

When did European immigrants become Americans? When did the Germanic migrants to the British isles become British?

An Indian teaching a Chinese brought up in HK about his indentity? Trying to convince CD that he is not Han while CD insisted he is?

Come on, Ray!

It is like someone convincing you that you were adopted while the fact is that you were produced by your mother.

Well, I believe only you have the nerve to go that far in helping we Chinese to figure out the real indentity of ourselves.

You gotta be joking right?

India wasnt united by a commone culture before the British? Have you completely lost it?

So what you're suggesting is that a bunch of Indians came together post independence and set a rule of cultural, moral, religious values that were imposed on the people....
So the march for independence happened because people did not believe in the concept of India, but because the British told us that we were one?

Please explain....Im very interested to see how you as a chinese came to this conclusion....

Maybe you're taking my discussions with Ray too seriously.

Anyway, when did the people who live in India start to embrace the concept that they were "Indians"? When did they start to consider themselves as "one people", under the identity called "Indian"?

Even today, Indians consider themselves to be of different ethnic groups and different cultures. The concept of unity is a political one, a shared identity of belonging to the nation-state of India, which only came into existence in 1947.

The Chinese had a shared concept of belonging to the same nation of China, the "Middle Kingdom" (Zhong guo) for thousands of years.

According to the Hong Kong census, 95% of the HK population is Han Chinese. The other 5% are Westerners (Americans/British/Canadians), other East Asians, South Asians, etc.

There are very few Chinese minorities (Zhuang, Hui, etc.) in Hong Kong. The Chinese population here, is almost completely Han.

Most of them can trace their roots back to ancestral villiages in Guangdong and other Southern provinces.
