China is watching Mexican cartels 'destabilize America'

Not to the majority of Americans. Fox News is the most watched and believed media in the US. I am not making this up.

Drone strikes, anyone?

For us there is a lesson here. The US government is going bananas over just 4 Americans. These people have been murdering innocent people as collateral damage for years in foreign countries including Pakistan.
.........

Fox News is not even close to Top 3 in the US.

US News Network Viewership goes from ABC to NBC to CBS. Fox is probably 4 or 5 closer

US TV viewership 2021-2022 primetime (evening) season

ABC News - 8.145 million viewer
NBC News - 6.87 million viewer
CBS News - 4.93 million viewer

Fox News - 1.6 million viewer

They are the most watched "CABLE" News network, against the like of CNN (around 1.1 mil) News nation (around 640k) and MSNBC (Around 1.,2 mil), but only loonie watch cable news......I would trust Lester Holt a lot more than CNN (or whenever he was now) Chris Coumo.

It may not happen under Biden, but under the next president, likely to be a Republican due to the economic situation in the country, the push to finally get the wall built and the cartels (“bad hombres”) dealt with will likely become a campaign pledge, if the situation gets wrote along the border.

Yes, I think you make a good point. With Biden? No, I don't think it's Biden to worry about. But if the Republicans get into power then yes I think there is a danger.

Personally I see the Republicans as a weak and defeated party in comparison to the Democrats. More of the media is with the Democrats and I do think the mid-term was rigged in their favor. Even pro-democrat media was expecting the mid-terms to be a big win for the Republicans and somehow the expected red wave mysteriously didn't happen.

Personally I do not expect the Republicans to take power in 2024. But AMLO has done something very bold in that he's hit back at the Republicans and is now promoting a strong anti-Republican stance. The Democrats are an anti-Russia party and much of the Republicans have converted to an anti-Mexico party. It is what it is.

Many, not all, but many, in the Republican party fear the demographic changes coming in less then 20 years.

It would be best for America, if as much on-shoring came to America, and then what ever is left should be done in Mexico and the rest of Latin America. If those countries are prosperous, stable and at peace with themselves and each other, it would slow the need for migration.

If Republicans come in with a xenophobic bent, it would harm US economic interests and long term social interests.

So the only compromise will probably be a wall and forcing the Mexican military to go after the cartels in a big way as the stick and the increase in economic investment in Mexico as the carrot.

To hell with any compromise and to hell with any wall. Trump said there would be a wall and Mexico will pay for it. There has been no wall and Mexico hasn't paid for it.

Whatever happens will happen. And as for the demographic change- the demographic change I believe is inevitable. I think the xenophobic elements will just have to deal with it. I think the US is free to police its border and I think it is in the common interest of both countries to limit migration passing through Mexico as well as the drug trade. But any effort to prevent the demographic change.... no, I think the racist elements who want a white rashtra will just have to deal with it. I think a more multicultural United States will be a lot less prone to invade the countries to its South, as well as less prone to invade the countries of the Muslim world. I know that Pakistanis might not know us very well but I believe our Latin cultures are like friends you haven't met yet. Anti-imperialism is very deeply-rooted in us.

I believe the United States has a multicultural future that will be to the benefit of humans as a whole and to the benefit of the United States moving towards a foreign policy that respects the countries of the Muslim world as well as of Latin America. As for anyone dreaming of a US future of a white rashtra... I think they've already lost. I believe the future of the United States is a multicultural society that is welcoming of all races and I do not think the retrograde elements can do anything about it.

I know many Latinos, grew up around them nearly my entire life. Very much similar people; hard working and family oriented., which why many have high hopes for how a large percentage of Latinos in America will have positive effects on not just the world, it within the US.

It’s the economic state of many Latin American countries and American states that create the domain in which the narcos can operate. Onshoring will help stabilize Latin America if the factories and investment goes there.

I think Bukele in El Salvador is really showing the right way in how to deal with these crime elements. I think at some point the Mexican state needs to just go the Bukele route and wage total war against the cartels. The cartels serving as a convenient pretext for foreign interference is just more reason to do so. Crushing them is important for national security.

But obviously it has to be the Mexican state to do this, not any foreign military. The cartels are very well armed and so if the US really wants to help then I think they should offer to help in providing arms and equipment for use against the cartels.

I don't think the Mexican government has done everything it should do when it comes to the cartel issue but... the US government hasn't handled every issue correctly either. And the arms and funding for the cartels are coming from the US. So I do think the Mexican government has had its flaws but no way does the cartel situation justify any foreign invasion.

Agreed, AMLO hasn’t done everything he could have done. But before he launches a major operation, there needs to be an economic plan to fill the void. Manufacturing has to take the place of cartel in the conflicts of northern Mexican states.

US Excess defense article sales or aid of billions of MRAPs could help, but there is a fear many government troops will be corrupted by the cartels.

It’s a tricky situation and the cartels have a lot of money.

Felipe Calderón talked about something like this... he was one of the earlier presidents, maybe you know, I'm not sure... anyways he launched the war against them... and he gave a mocking speech where he talked about people saying instead of fighting the narcos they need to build schools... and he talked about that yes you should build schools and all that too... but you also need... well... force... you have to actually use force against them... and then AMLO's thing and the thing with his supporters is.... we're going to do away with the narcos by doing socialist type programs, programs for the poor.... you're talking about manufacturing.... now, schools, Naya Pakistan programs to help the poor, manufacturing... I think all that is good... I hope they do all that in conjunction...

but whether they do all that or not, I simply want the government to do El Salvador style total war against the cartels. Mexico is a poor country and I am pessimistic as to what can be done in the short-term as far as economy. I'm sure things can be done to improve the living conditions in terms of economics and all that... but sort of like when Calderón was talking about schools- I think all that is sort of long-term.

El Salvador was a poor country and is still a poor country. But now El Salvador is a very safe country! Through sheer fear and intimidation, Bukele has managed to scare the heck out of the criminals and much reduced crime. I think Afghanistan is another example. I was just talking to an Afghan yesterday- the people are struggling economically. It's hard, it's been hard. But the Taliban are not messing around when it comes to criminals and now to my understanding the ordinary people are safer since they've taken power.

I am pessimistic as to what can be done in short term as far as economy and all that. But I am very confident that if AMLO or someone who comes after him does whatever it is Bukele is doing in El Salvador- it can be done, even if the country still is poor. And once you reduce crime, I think this also helps attract investment.

AMLO had a policy of hugs not guns or something like that. Empathy is good alongside establishing law and order.

You can’t blame US citizens for being mad at seeing a 100,000 countrymen die a year to fentanyl laced drugs.

Solving the problem will be win win for north nations on multiple levels.

Hugs not bullets. It hasn't brought results. Bukele's approach is what has gotten results. The approach I am for is the one that's gotten results.

Was Imran Khan selling fentanyl to the US? Let's not kid ourselves as to the nature of how the US deals with other nations. Latin Americans have too much historical experience to be deceived in this regard. We are related to the Indians they genocided- those Indians weren't selling fentanyl. Muslims should understand very well.

I don't think anyone except the narcos themselves are against solving the cartel issue.

the US is providing the guns and the money. how many Mexicans have been killed by these cartels armed and funded from the US? their lives aren't worth more than ours. and for them to talk of an invasion... you should know how wrong it is.

Bukele’s way is probably the only effective way, and one that doesn’t requires bloodshed, if people can be kept in jail for life. Not sure about all the legality, but if a president after AMLO doesn’t give an F, like a new Calderón, then I guess building mega prisons will probably work.

The iron fist approach is what has to be. If you have a terrorist group running around in Pakistan- do you want hugs not bullets or crush them with an iron fist? crush them and defend the country first, then one can feel sad for them later if one wants.

Bukele is massively popular amongst Latin Americans. People across Latin America are wanting a Bukele for their country.

edit: btw I think you should be aware- the West hates Bukele. you have to be cautious when it comes to how the West covers our region. what's funny is AMLO has been doing the soft on crime thing (but btw many Western leftist politicians also are the same... there's no talk of sending the military to bomb the areas they run)... and now the US is threatening to invade the country... but Bukele actually does what AMLO isn't doing and should be doing... and then the West hates him too!... you see, it is not anything innocent at all, they are simply out to get Latin Americans, they do not wish well for us at all)

Some states bordering Mexico have taken the wall situation in their own hands. Just like taking illegal immigrants and sending them to Democratic sanctuaries to see how it is to handle such mass exodus, they finish the wall when Biden refuse to finish it. Course now they are taking it down because the Federal government says its illegal and sued them for that.

Do you think the next Republican president will get the full wall built?
