I expect China wouldn't buy S-400 after they mastered the cloning of S300 and made some improvements.
They claimed their newest SAM more advanced than S300.

Now they are happy to get S-400 from Russia in the future.

While S-400 is just the improved S-300, known as S-300PMU3.

So I could carefully conclude the claim that they have more advanced system than S-300 is baseless. Actually S-300 they get from Russia still guarding the most important sites of China.
