The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Army will for the first time display some of its latest helicopters and drones at an upcoming national helicopter expo, highlighting the integrated operation capabilities between manned and unmanned equipment.

As China's sole national-level professional international exhibition on helicopters, the 6th China Helicopter Exposition is scheduled to be held from September 14 to 17 in North China's Tianjin, China Central Television (CCTV) reported on Thursday.

More than 350 companies and a total of 65 helicopters and drones will participate in the expo.

The Z-11WB helicopter, the PLA Army's multirole drones and vertical takeoff and landing drones as well as the Aero Engine Corporation of China's WZ-16 turboshaft engine and hydrogen fueled engine will be exhibited for the first time at the event, CCTV reported.

The PLA Army equipment that will participate in the helicopter expo will focus on their advanced capabilities in actual combat, Senior Colonel Ning Tao of the PLA Army's Equipment Department said at a press conference on Thursday.

A total of 79 pieces of equipment across 14 types will comprehensively display the PLA Army's achievements in mobile operation and multidimensional attack and defense through the combination of air and ground elements, manned and unmanned elements as well as transport and attack elements, he said.

Helicopters, drones and airborne weapons in active service will be put on static display, including the debut of a type of wide-body transport helicopter and a type of armed reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle, highlighting the integrated operation capabilities between manned and unmanned equipment, Ning said.

Presented by the Fenglei Aerobatic Team, six flight performances will be delivered throughout the expo by seven Z-10 attack helicopters, six Z-19 attack helicopters and two Z-20 tactical utility helicopters, Ning said.

Civilian-use helicopters including the AC352, the AC312 and the AC311A will also give rescue performances at the event, said Zhou Guoqiang, a spokesperson with the Aviation Industry Corporation of China, at the press conference.

The expo is expected to display the latest developments of the Chinese helicopter industry and offer some new insights into the country's next-generation helicopters, a Beijing-based military expert who requested anonymity told the Global Times on Thursday.

Some of the global trends in helicopter development are high speed and stealth, and at the same time, China has yet to have its own heavy-lift transport helicopter and heavy attack helicopter, the expert noted.

However, China is now at a world-class level when it comes to the integrated operation between helicopters and drones, which will be displayed at the expo, the expert said.

TIANJIN, Sep. 12 – The 6th China Helicopter Exposition will be held in the Industry Base of the AVIC Helicopter, Tianjin, from September 14 to 17. During the four days, the first two will be professional days, and the rest two will be open to the public.

China Helicopter Exposition, as the only national-level dedicated international helicopter exposition, has become the second largest helicopter exposition in the world, and the only helicopter exposition coming with professional airshows. This year’s exposition is co-hosted by the Tianjin Municipal People's Government, the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) and the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Army. The latest technologies, products, achievements and solutions in the global helicopter sector will be displayed intensively at the exposition.

There have been more than 350 firms registered to participate in the event, including over 40 domestic and international companies coming for the first time. Almost all the major helicopter engine factories and supporting companies around the world are present, including Airbus, Russian Helicopters, AECC, SAFRAN, Collins, etc.

There will be 65 helicopters and drones in total participating in the exposition and airshow, including 49 helicopters, 13 large drones, three multi-rotor vertical take-off and landing aircraft, among which are mainly Chinese PLA Army’s Z-20, Z-10 and Z-19 armed helicopters, and Z-8 wide-body transport helicopter, as well as global mainstream helicopters such as AVIC AC311A, AC312E, AC332 and AC352 helicopters, Leonardo AW189 service helicopter, Airbus H135, Bell B505, and SikorskyS76.

Nearly 50 large items will also be on display, including engines, flight simulators, airborne and avionics devices, and special purpose vehicles and equipment from domestic and international well-known companies. Some of them will make their debuts, such as AC332, Z-11E and AW189 helicopters, AR-500 UAV, Chinese PLA Army KVD multi-purpose UAV, vertical take-off and landing UAV, AVICWZ16 Turboshaft engine, and hydrogen fuel engine.

Airshow remains the highlight. At this event, 26 helicopters led by the Chinese PLA Army will present six airshows, to demonstrate the superb performance of the helicopters and the excellent handling skills of the pilots.

China Helicopter Exposition has been held five sessions since 2011.

Any exciting news we can expect to be shown at the 6th China Helicopter Exposition at Tianjin?

Not that I expect anything on the new attack helicopter, but a production Z-20F or Z-20S would be fine ... or some news on the Z-8LJ! :what:

Any indication China will adopt and operate a variant of this or the AC-313A as a presidential transport, similar to the U.S. President’s Marine One?
No, there is no such indication.

The following might explain why they don't have specially bulit helicopter equivalent to US Marine One.

If you notice, there is also no Airforce One in China. They use commercial airline Air China's 747-400 whenever there is an oversea visit for Chairman Xi.

The chosen aircraft are modified each time before the trip, and will be retrofitted back to commercial airline specs after the overseas visit ended, so that the same aircraft can be used for normal airline service again.

Also note that present and past chairmen and VVIPs always used 8-10 passenger vans for their transport in normal visits within the country. On official state visits they will use expensive Hongqi N701 limosine specially built for the chaiman.
