China has grudging but immense respect for India, says former Australian PM Kevin Rudd

While answering the question, "How do the Chinese assess India after what happened in the Galwan Valley?," he replied, "There is a grudging but high degree of respect in the Chinese people's minds for India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Chinese people are also militarily surprised by the Indian military's pushback and strong clashes on the border in 2020."

According to Kevin Rudd, "What permanently puzzles the Chinese is how a country of 1.3 billion people can be a robust democracy given that their only historical script in their mind is that it has to be autocratic."

He also said that China recognises India as an ancient civilization, and it is quite respectful of democracy under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Good grief, the democracy god strikes again. We sure respect everyone and their ways of lives. We don't expect the same thing back though. So, whatever... On the other hand, every time some white elite sings praises about India they will suck for another 10 years:lol:

i think he is not a subject matter expert to take his view literally

Do Indians believe what this Australian said?

I will believe this when I hear Chinese officials saying this. I am sure the Chinese don't respect India as an economy. Some may be curious about the ancient philosophy / spirituality etc, but not to the extent whites are because Chinese have their own ancient civilisation. In the world of social media, 24x7 news and motormouth Youtubers, the reality of every country lays bare. We don't need spokespersons to convince anyone of anything.

In fact, we can see how absurd this article is by looking at the comments of Chinese members of PDF.

The Chinese respect the ancient Indian civilization with a history of thousands of years. However, the Chinese people do not respect the present India.

Because the Indian system is backward, the Indian ideology is backward, or we can say that the Indian people have fallen behind the times.

A modern country must have modern citizens, but India does not.

India does have a larger population than China at this point, so that's a lot of potential despite their **** ups.

Yeah... We fell behind in education.
We will get respect when we deserve it. A matter of time.

India has ungrudging respect for China and Chinese people. It is just the CCP's tyranny over human rights and their minions that show low class behavior.

Among many factors, CCP might be the driving one that sets China and India so far apart.
