China, Friend or Foe?

no one is a friend of the u.s.
everyone hates them
note that down
ditto for china to set the u.s. straight

"China is rising so fast, the population is so big and the social system is so different" that it excites unease.

Rightly said. Not much US experts know China, admittedly a complex society. Most US congressmen are sheer morons when dealing with or talking about China, even more so for many ordinary American citizens. They don’t know what China roughly is, other than a human rights abusing hell. Laughable and sometimes deplorable, indeed! After hard lessons through Korea War and Vietnam war, further helped with China’s open-up, they start to grasp a glimpse of China, slowly.

The key issue between Sino-US relationships is Taiwan problem. US can’t keep gaining benefit from the issue forever if China keeps rising at current speed. The day when Taiwan and mainland China come to a union is the day that the relationship between the two greatest countries will leap to a new height.

People can change thier government if they dont like it.

I dont think so, its the same old unchanging dynasty rule, directly or indirectly, for most of the time now and in future. Rigid CCP has had more change than that.

In 2004 voters got rid of BJP because they claimed India was shining. It was shining but only in urban areas not rural and those voters made them pay. That's what I like to call democracy. It is going to be either BJP or Congress again, they are the biggest parties but even they would need help to forum government.

.
Change within the party is the first level of change. We all know the change of jyoti basu in bengal dont we and seen its effects.

Moreover even at inter-party level one party has had its hand in power for 4/5 ths of the time.

The only true change we had in India was when the congress had no part of the dynasty in it..during manmohan/pvr combo..but we know how pvr got villified and back to the dynasty, nepotism and sychophancy.

No its not a call for change for the sake of change but change by competition. When all possibilities of competition is squashed and a mindset created for single family rule then its a mockery of not just democracy but of the people.

If India and China can better their relations, it would have the effect of forcing Pakistan to decide where it stands. And it may be the single best thing China can do for a old friend that needs this kind of help.

A Pakistan that is home to radical Islamism can never be a true friend of China, it will always be a blackmailer, it is the method the Islamist, they have Utopia and they will as they must, force it on to others as proof of their Utopia.

If Indian can get past visions the West of fed it as being not a partner but a counter to China, Pakistan would have great hope.

You are right, it is chaotic but it is after all "democracy". People can change thier government if they dont like it. I will take democracy over communism any day, nothing against China.

You can change it from bad to worse for ordinary people, then replace this worse with another bad.

Government changes because of alternative prevalence of different interest groups the government represents, but society remains the same.

A good leader, be he/she in a democratic society or not, is a leader of the mass, not a follower of the mass. He/she servers as visionaries, a guider, a teacher, and a designer, not as an mere echo of popular noise.

BTW, China's system definitely needs improvement, no questions about that. But political westernization is not the solution because Chinese society is not a western society. Only a political system befits the social soil, can the system grow healthily.

Super, could not agree more. You could also add stability that is missing in a contest that is between actual minorities.

We even want to make friend to India too--at least myself wanted before I accidently visited the Indian BR forum about a month ago. Gosh, I wouldn't know some of Indian(in fact it appears to me majority of the ppl on BR) hate Chinese so much.

Majority of Indians are very hostile people especially towards Pakistanis. Read what they say about Pakistan and Islam in those forums. Even click on any video on Pakistan in youtube, 50 Indians will come in the page and start cursing, even though theres no mention of Indians on the video, its just a Pakistani video.

I think the reason is because they have not forgiven Pakistanis for dividing the subcontinent, but after seeing their behavior I'm glad Pakistan separated. I really dont understand why they are hostile to China...I think they are just jealous of China.

Indians today are nothing like their Gandhi.

About the Youtube thing, I could say the same thing. Who is saying bad thing about Islam here, no religious mockering is allowed here. If any body has been caught doing this, should be banned.

Hostile toward China?
Suspicious?, yes but word hostile is strech. North Krea is hostile toward South Korea. India and China are suspicious about each other, not hostile.

Indians today are nothing like their Gandhi.

I am glad I am not like Gandhi. India would of been slave of British for another 200 years. It was Bhagat Singh, Chandar Shekhar Azad and Bose and many people like them in all religions who contributed to indipendence movement. At one time 1000 british men were ruling whole India. Non-violence movement did create buzz but not resultes.

I'm not talking about this forum, I'm talking about Indian forums where Indians badmouth Pakistan, Pakistanis, and Islam.

I've noticed hostility towards China also on Indian forums.

Gandhi was a peace-loving man, most Indians today are not like Gandhi but are more like Nehru and Indira than any of the other Indian politicians.

Yea, most of them live in fantasy world but dont read to much into it. I remember i was at chinese forum about 5 or 6 years ago and I could say the same thing. I dont think the people of India or China hate each other, it's political system that is suspicious about each other.

good comment! i love that ,it's not the people ,that's the problem of the government!

My Bad, but can bet that there are no Pakistani sites that dont bad mouth India or Hinduism?

I've noticed hostility towards China also on Indian forums.

Like I said that , I was at an chineswe site that was really bad, they were even using F words everywhere. I wish I had the address of that site right now, so I can prove it.

Yes he was did believe in non-violence but it was limitless. British could of controlled india for generations if some people hadn't picked up the arms.
