I'm just stating facts rather than apologizing. Clearly China is not Communist since the word Communist implies collective ownership and the abolishment of private property.

Communist in name only, which is fine, but not in terms of Economics. Nothing wrong with that, I think it's a good system overall. I believe our system is most often referred to as "Socialism with Chinese characteristics."

I'm from HK too, grew up in Mid-levels in HK island.

You're right, China has not exactly been a "model citizen" of the globally community, especially during the era of Chairman Mao. Hopefully this is changing with the new generations of leadership.

As to your other points, a key geostrategic issue for China is oil imports. We produce a lot, but consume more. Much of our oil imports come from the Middle East, Malaysia/Indonesia, and pipelines to central Asia and Russia.

India could in theory block our Middle Eastern oil supply, although that would also block oil to the rest of East Asia. Japan, Korea, etc.

In this situation, Malaysian/Indonesian oil becomes very important. So you're right that South East Asia is becoming very important in a strategic sense.
We are neighbors then, i live in kennedy rd.

Well I think it is best for nations to get along.

The most important thing to me, is that I do not want to see Chinese people suffer. The best way to help Chinese people, is to keep our Economy growing strong and to have stability in the region.

I don't want to see a war with India or anyone else, so I am happy to see us all becoming more cooperative in terms of our economies.

Maybe others disagree but this is how I feel.

I lived in Conduit road, it's at the top of the long escalator. (I went to Island School as well). House prices in the Mid-levels are shooting through the roof now though, so hopefully it won't cost too much to buy another house when I get back!

Show atleast a little civility,dude.Also understand that there are trolls of every nationality,there are chinese members who make fun of indian poverty,toilets etc in threads which are on entirely different issues.Two days back one chinese guy posted an accident in which indians died with a "happy smiley".You can see many indians including me congratulating china on it's achievements on various threads but i have not seen any chinese members doing the same in last two years(except chinesedragon ).Respect is something we all should be earned,which a racist like you will never understand.
