As long as we Chinese people believe in Chinese unity, then who cares what these outsiders say? :azn:

They tried this trick when China was weak, and they divided us. But now, China is strong, and we won't fall for these tricks anymore.

Much ado about nothing. People in rich cities always consider themselves more cultured and sophisticated than the mainlanders. Happens in Hong Kong, Karachi, Mumbai, London, ...

Maybe the WSJ should look closer to home about how "sophisticated" New Yorkers look down upon the "hicks" in the "flyover" states of the American heartland.

Yes, it is socio-economics rather than anything else.

And I find it unforgivable for any Chinese person to promote "regionalism", whether they live here in HK or if they live in the mainland.

There is only one China, and we are all a part of it, regardless of what region we live in.

There will always be regionalism and class 'warfare', as long as it doesn't get out of hand. All countries have that.

People in Sydney and Melbourne love joking about each other. It doesn't mean anything.

Some people are really scraping the bottom of the barrel to find mud; this is just silly.

Even after 20 years of unification, many people still have the "Wall" in their head. I'm talking about Germany. There is still a lot of "Wessis" in the mind of East Germans and "Ossis" in the mind of West Germans, not to mention that Bavarians think they are special and first of all a Bavarian and secondly a German, but within the state of Bavaria there is also the divide between the Franconian tribe and Bavarian tribe. I can make a whole list of prejudices amongst German regions, but by the end of the day, we are all Germans.

Maybe India is an exception as all Indians speak with one mind and beat with one heart.

The majority of Hong Kongers claimed they were "superior" to mainland Chinese and felt it was utterly disgraceful to be ruled by the "inferior" Beijingers.

They all see themselves as Australians at the end of the day. Lot of different from people seeing themselves as citizen of HongKong and not a citizen of PRC.

17% is only emphasized the Chinese people's options, but the Chinese people, Chinese people in Hong Kong, Hong Kong in china, three add up to 60%

In other words, 60% Hong Kong believe that they are Chinese.

In Hong Kong BBS most members has been boiling for some "intellectuals" to deceive and induce the public.

This is a well-planned hoax.

5 options

Hong Kong people

Chinese people

Chinese people in Hong Kong,

Hong Kong people in china,

Other

Yes, Chinese people only 17%, but Chinese people, Chinese people in Hong Kong, Hong Kong people in china, three add up to 60%, then some people began to ignore these, only to roar "only 17% select the Chinese people," ah, I do not know that "Chinese people in Hong Kong", "Hong Kong people in china", they are not the same and select "Chinese people"?

Boy, noticed you in this two days. All 38 posts you have are nothing but pure hatred against China. Get a girlfriend, and a life. Being always angry is not good to your health.

And don't pretend to be Taiwanese. No matter how much a Taiwanese hates mainland China, he will never say "Unite and ... kill the dragon!" since the dragon is a symbol of the culture, not nation.

Just like Taiwan, when there are only two options Chinese and Taiwanese, the majority will choose taiwanese.
When the options are Chinese, taiwanese, Taiwanese as well as Chinese, the majority will choose the third one
