What's new

China could invest up to $300 billion in Indian Railways...

Next..

The condition to do so is in case of hostilities, in which case the trade relations are already off. And reason to do so is to hamper possible army movement.

Army and its equipment travelling in bullet trains?
Lol

.
Above is hilarious ..Lol

Military tanks in a super-fast bullet like trains?

I rest my case.
No more dialogue with you.
Thanks for coming..
China is not going to build bullet trains, but improve the existing infra for higher speed and efficiency. It was in some other thread.

.
These high speed trains are meant to be for few corridors connecting Metro cities. They wont end up in Kanyakumari or Kashmir...

India has its own of 200 KM technology...
Needs better than that.
Bullet like is 250 KM plus...
Thats what it is gonna be...
Other than that it would be uncivilized anyway..

fine .
i m talking about indian railway as genral not bullet trains ONL
see the context
Chinese officials say that China would be committing anywhere between $100 billion to $300 billion in the modernisation of Indian railways by replacing existing tracks to increase the speed, station development, establishing industrial parks as well as invest in mega infrastructure projects.

Xi to Abe, $35 billion is peanuts

Another mega deal will involve (a) the doubling of speeds on existing railway tracks in the country through use of technology developed and tested in China for the purpose; and (b) partnering in the construction of "fast trains" reaching speeds of 160 kilometres per hour. These would shrink travel time considerably while being much cheaper than the "bullet trains" to be developed in cooperation with Japan, an official claimed.

These Chinese high speed trains will be that of passenger trains connecting Indian Metropolitan cities.
Tanks reach Ladakh and other border via land/Railways as usual but talk about using Chinese funded trains for such Military heavy equipment is ridiculous...

You dont need to push these Youtube videos here to make your silly point. We know it all, its been years since this has been happening.

Chinese investment = Highs-peed passenger trains. What kill switch/sabotage and other shik is being peddled here to achieve what?

Agra Delhi has already started with such (160) speed already.
Why need Chinese technology?

According to the British company Mott McDonald, which is currently undertaking a pre-feasibility study of the project, the estimated cost for construction will be around
e2bda9528a9705b0a7ec47964853198f.png
5 trillion (short scale). The speed expected is 200–350 km/h.

Above is the need of the hour, and its being worked upon. Not 160 KM which is already running:

The semi-high speed train, which is yet to be officially named, made the journey at an average speed hovering between 125 and 130 km/hr, and recorded its top speed at 160km/hr at certain stretches.

There are still kinks in the system. Recent trial was slower than expected. Besides, it involves large scale changes, from signal to tracks. Chinese have a proven/running system. India will have to experiment. If they invest, they will bring money and experience. Both of which India lacks.

China wants to take advantage of India's poverty. It will only loan India money if India uses Chinese equipment and labor. China will make sure India cannot maintain Chinese-built railway equipment and tracks so that India will always rely on China to keep its railways in proper working order.
This is never going to happen. Indian people might be poor but not the government of India. Every country needs investment, this is not loan, first you have to differentiate between loan and investment. And India is not going to use Chinese equipment or labor, we have lots of skilled labor and heavy machinery available here when it comes to infrastructure development, for instance take a look at DMRC or any other on going metro project in India. What we lack is investment.
After all we haven't build one of world longest and largest rail network by use other country's labor and equipment.

.
This speed of 160 KM was achieved using 5,400 HP electric locomotive...

India has WAG-9 with 6300 HP which is good for 200 KM per hour.

China tech means 200 and up...only for high paying passengers.
Transporting Tanks ?
Lol

You are very true!

India has the brains and the funds to develop own bullet trains. India doesn't need Chinese or Japanese money or technology.

Modi-ji will make better bullet trains in a few years!

India will be a superpower by 2020!

It is not just about engine power. The tracks have to take the load. The signals have to be automated for efficiency. There are several other basic changes required. China have below 200 trains running, and very efficiently. India doesn't have the money or the experience even for below 200 ones. The change is not just to increase the max speed. It has to be sustained. There are thousand causes of delays, which have to be removed.

Why do you think IR could only run few Shatabdi like trains, not all trains could get to that speed? All this years India had a few trains going above 150, but they were special trains. If all it needed was bigger engine, all the trains would be running that fast.

.
Instead of Bullet Trains, Modi should focus on Freight Corridors. DMIC is on its way, along with Bangalore-Chennai. Should plan for Freight Corridors from Mumbai-Kolkatta, Mumbai-Hyderabad-Chennai, Chennai-Kolkatta, Delhi-Chennai. This will reduce load on existing network and result in fast and huge freight transportation at cheaper rates. In the latter phase the infrastructure of existing network can be updated for speed upto 200 KM, for Passenger loads.

Nobody took care of above problems when the white lady was ruling and fooling Indians.
Now that the nationalist government is at the helm. You will see a wonderful result.
You have highlighted some technical hitches on the ground while forgetting India is reaching Mars after the moon, that also in its first attempt ridiculing advance nations..

Where there is a will there is a highway!!
Finance?
China coming up with.
Why reject it on flimsy doubts?
Modi wont. Agreement (comprehensive) has to be reached with stipulations satisfying both parties and you are into business.

Just because India went to Mars, doesn't mean that it has become expert in basic techs. India is far behind in railways compared to some major nations. It has yet to have a running HSR. China has technology and experience, at an affordable rate. Why wait for 10 years for Indian technology to mature, when you can get it now.

This are two separate issue. I hope the Chinese would be allowed to invest. We need the investments and their experience. At the same time, be wary of your potential enemy which would know the ins and outs of your key infrastructer.

I am pro FDI, China would be better than Japan, in that, they are locking there investment in India, and India holds the key. Not otherwise. You scratch my back, I scratch yours...

As for the Rail tech, India is already into feasibility study depth by hiring a British firm to look into such high speed trains ranging from 250-350 KM. Why? Why spend huge fees for British co... The ball is already rolling on this whether Japan or China. China has suggested (not yet committed) these funds/projects just last week ago. But the feasibility study is being done before China with Japan in mind..

The underlined material is just absurd.
