More than 30% of our woman are unmarried, which means that married couples need to have an average 3 children to hit replacement level. 0.7*3=2.1. Our married couples have an average of 1.8 children. In some European countries like Sweden (1.9TFR) , this is less of a problem. 50% of their children are born out of wedlock, while in East Asia it's 2%. Italy with low percentage also has a low TFR like East Asia.

Maybe if Developed Countries retract Social care for elders, the birth rate will be raise again. Because you'll need your Children to take care of you when you old.

So if there is no Government funding for that social care, people will be thrown out from their safe-zone, and will think something else to guarantee that their old age won't make them homeless / become a beggar.

That would be great if true. Unfortunately statistics show that it's the opposite. The poor and uneducated usually have higher birth rates than the educated.

Many young people opt-out for having children. They find life much easier, without children. I think they are no different than those who do not do financial saving. When you are old, you will have to use your saving. Once saving depleted, you need children to give you food, utilities. Many think they have enough saving. How many saving one need to survive for 20 years, 20 years later? What is the breakdown threshold of inflation rate? If the inflation rate is very high, then great majority will not survive living in old age.
