China backs Argentina's sovereignty claim over the Malvinas islands

Hey China is not anti-UK. Australia belongs to the UK and we should help them take it back!

No, China not really anti-Japan and anti-Russia (both are neighbors, in the long run, no permanent hostility.)

USA, neither friend nor enemy, no real hate for US.

But one nation China don't forgive : UK (First nation to invade modern China, director of Tibet independence, both KMT and CCP think Britain is the director & pushing hand of Tibet independence since Raj era.)

So, China enjoys doing something to make UK embarrassed, support Argentina's sovereignty claim over Malvinas Islas with high profie.

The Falkland islands belong to the British for as long as their military can protect them. If you guys talking about the Spratlys they're still working on the issues.

the Malvinas islands is part of Argentina, sooner or later Britain has to give it up like it did so many times in the last half a century, don't know why they still can't see it,stolen land can't be kept long.

No, the islands are not theirs. Do some research first.

It seems current visionary chinese leadership is simply not contend with being sole disputed leader of asia which btw they R justifiably destined to be, but also have practical long term vision of a Global superpower capable projecting power across the globe. The chinese stance should be welcome. A super power china in 2040 may be able to help argentina take back the islands.

Not since 1901. But they don't want it back? They gave us Independence :woot:

Argentina have never had any legitimate claim over the Falklands. All the inhabitants are British and wish to remain so.

It would be like Australia saying to China "Please give us back HongKong" despite there being no link whatsoever between HongKong and Australia.

strategic alliance between China and Argentina

I didn't notice that line, does that mean an anti-west alliance with S.A. governments?

If, Argentina in 2005, and stopped the ALCA common market between the United States and Latin America. And appointed to China market economy.
Today, the trade between China and Latin America is very large, and moved to the U.S..

X2.

The Falklands is British territory, Argentina has no claim over it. The people on the island are British and want to remain British.

How would the Chinese like it if another country claimed some of their territory that the other country had no connection whatsoever to?

Britain is currently on a really sticky wicket ... Malvinas / Falklands ... and now with Diego Garcia too from ICJ

International court asks UK to explain 1965 acquisition of Diego Garcia - Times Of India

The ICJ rejected the UK's challenge to the court's jurisdiction and would now be compelled to disclose its rationale for its secretive move to buy the Chagos Islands from Mauritius, of which Diego Garcia was turned into a military base by the United States. The hearing will be on the basis of the UN law of the sea; and the final verdict will be binding on Britain.

Classified British government files made public last year revealed the British government apparently hoodwinked its parliament and public to provide a strategic location for a US military base in Diego Garcia.

Hahaha. I love how ignorant people such as yourself parrot that same line on this forum everytime i respond with something you don't want to hear.

How about sticking to the topic instead of trying to insult me with information that isn't even true? Might be a bit hard for you.

The falklands is British land. The British settled there and claimed the land. The island wasn't claimed by anyone else before the British arrived and there was no population on it.

Why make statements that are not true and that are now backed up with evidence?

The Falklands was claimed by Britain, Argentina had no claim over it and there was no one on the island.

The people on the island are British. The rightful owner of the island is the British fullstop.

The only reason people such as yourself are taking a big issue with the situation is because you absolutely hate the West and everyone in it so you and others responding see this as an opportunity to act out your hatred.

You couldn't care less about Argentina or its people.

It was uninhabited. The British landed first and claimed it.

You lie. Spanish settlers lived in the Malvinas, which became independent with Argentina in 1810, and became part of the Argentine people, until the British arrived in 1833 and expelled by force, and implanted with kelper.

There is a very big difference between Diego Garcia and the Falklands. In Diego Garcia, at American behest the British shunted out the local residents - they actually threw them out of their own country. Falklands - the people still live there and they want to stay British. What is Argentina's plan? Throw out the people living there like Idi Amin?

The question is : Who has the territorial rights to Falklands / Malvinas ?

Just imagine if Argentina goes and occupies an uninhabited island 100 miles from the British Coast and settle in Argentines on that island and later claim the island to be it's own ....

From a personal viewpoint , this clearly smacks of colonialism .... also I remember reading that polls done at the time in 1982 indicated that very few people ( also the Defence Minister ) in Britain actually knew where the Falkland Islands were before the war broke out....

If they want to by some C802 and JH7A, Why not sell them,
However the Argentine has given up the use of force, they know they can never defeat the UK without the help from a world power like China.
I don't think the current China-Argentina relation is in that level.

The British are the main force of United States mercenaries. Impossible to go militarily.
Argentina used diplomatic channels, where UK and USA are seen as aggressors and colonialists.

Argentina proposed expelling ever. Just sit down and negotiate a solution.
Latinoamerica whole rejects British military enclave on the american continent.

You are right in saying that it smacks of colonialism. But the islands were uninhabited - so it is not as if there is a native population which is a stakeholder. By definition, the current residents are now the natives and they want to stay British. And this is 2013 not 1833 - if the Islanders wanted to join Argentina, I doubt the Brits would have an issue. I mean they are allowing the Scots next door to break away if they so choose.

You crazy. Argentina claims the islands legally since the UK invaded in 1833.
