True, but what's the guarantee that Iran won't develop nuclear weapons anyway even if Israel stops theirs?

This human desire for power is insatiable. A better solution for a peaceful world would be a ban of all nuclear weapons, but then again, actually implementing this ban would be near impossible.

You're right, that would be the ideal solution of course.

But the current situation in the Middle East is unsustainable. Israel is completely surrounded and outnumbered, by neighbours who desperately hate them. (Whether or not the hate is justified, depends on personal opinion). And the demographic trends are not in Israel's favour either.

Those nations who oppose Israel, will do everything in their power to gain a nuclear weapon. Needless to say, this can and will end very badly, for everyone involved.

Exactly, which is why, personally, I believe China advocating a nuke-free Israel won't do any good from an Israel point of view. If Iran wanted the nuclear, they would get it regardlessly.

And the fact that Israel is surrounded and outnumbered by hostile neighbours, a nuclear is extremely essential for them in order for their survival. I'm quite sure Israel would already have been wiped out if not for their nuclear capabilities.

Anyway we'll all see how this rolls out. I'm just hoping for permanent peaceful solution to all of this.

I don't think the Chinese Government should have made this statement either... better to keep our nose out of it. "No interference" and all that.

But the idea itself is not too bad, in theory.

And Iran won't be scared off by anybody. They are already surrounded on two sides by America (US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan), and threatened repeatedly with invasion by superpower USA, and regional power Israel. Iran won't back down.

We're not the ones complaining that Iran wants to nuke us off the map.

Israel is the one most concerned about Iran developing nukes, followed by America and the Arab countries. This is just a proposed solution to prevent that.

If you read all my post, never once did I blame Iran for developing nuclear. If China, India and Pakistan can have it, the Iranians have the right for it too.

The same way Israel has a right to keep their nukes.

Iran has a legitimate reason for developing nukes. How can countries with huge nuclear arsenals themselves keep pontificating to Iran? Lame. Does Iran need licenses from America and Israel to develop nuke capability? It is going ahead keeping its supreme national interests in mind just like Israel and the Us of A.
