General Raheel Sharif, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) visited Army Medical Center, Abbottabad today.
While interacting with the officers and men of Army Medical Corps, COAS appreciated contributions and sacrifices of doctors and paramedic staff in improving the health care standards in peace and war especially in fight against terrorism. COAS lauded the efforts of AMC in up gradation of hospitals, specially the specialized treatment including, liver transplant unit, hands and upper limbs surgery center. Their training establishments like National University Medical Sciences (NUMS) and paramedics training institutes are serving our requirements of developing human resource and skill sets, COAS remarked.
COAS further emphasized that AMC has always answered the call of duty during national calamities both inland and abroad and disaster management.
General Raheel Sharif further said that medical science is progressing at a rapid pace, and it is imperative for doctors to keep themselves abreast to the latest development. Later COAS pinned the badges of rank on the shoulders of Lieutenant General Asif Mumtaz Sukhera to formally install him Colonel Commandant of Army Medical Corps.
Earlier on arrival COAS laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and offered Fateha.


 
Saudi Defence Minister and Deputy Crown Prince, Prince Muhammad bin Salman called on General Raheel Sharif, COAS tonight. During the meeting regional security with particular focus on Middle East, issues of bilateral relations including defence cooperation and collaboration came under discussion.

Rawalpindi, Sep 28, 2016: COAS presented Academic Excellence Awards to the students of Army Public Schools and College System (APSACS) who distinguished themselves in SSC and HSSC Exams of Federal Board. Ceremony was held at GHQ Auditorium today. COAS congratulated successful students, their parents and faculty for achieving excellent results. He said that Army Public School and College System is a leading education network with 183 institutions across the country and is imparting quality education to almost 2 lakh students from various strata of society.

COAS said that our younger generation is blessed with enormous potential and are true guarantors of a bright, prosperous and safe Pakistan. He said, “I have no doubt that the future generation of Pakistan will take this country to its ultimate zenith through their hard work, dedication and passion.”

General Raheel said education institutions must lay more emphasis on character building of students for grooming of a well rounded and wholesome personality.
A large number of students, parents of students, faculty and staff of APSACS Sectt attended the ceremony.
