Changing times: Ijtihad and other questions Muslims must revisit

No, it wasn't. Not until Objectives Resolution was passed which went against Jinnah's vision for Pakistan.
Look at history...the land was created as a safe place for Muslims...that is what the Muslim league was about....To protect the Muslims....What was that supposed to lead to? :pop:

Why penalty for blasphemy at all?
Blasphemy is a word derived from the bible...can you tell me the word in the Quran that people have substituted with blasphemy?

Yeah but Saudis and Iranians are following PERFECT version of Shariah. Not to forget ISIS Momineens
I never said that

About what?
Read in context...He was asking if a person of a different religious background can be a PM or president of Pakistan....and I answer in context

You are a known Islamist, sorry I don't take Islamists.
Interesting :pop:

How did you come to that conclusion? because I dont bash Islam? or Because I can answer 99% of all the misconceptions or stupid ideas raised to which Muslims end up bowing and agreeing to?

What is your concept of women's rights? On what criteria should one judge rights of women. Our creator created men and women differently and gave them due rights. He knows whats best for us and ordained laws accordingly. What u think has no value if it goes against Quran and sunnah.

Women may lead women only in prayer BUT NOT men.
they can, if the woman is more knowledgeable than the man in that specific congregation

That really is no logic. What you were meant to be or not be 70 years back is not relevant today. Countries change themselves all the time.
What difference does it make to you as a practicing Muslim if Pakistan is a secular state or an Islamic one. Tell me in practical examples. You would still be able to go to prayers 5 times a day, you would still keep a fast during ramzan, your masjid will still use loudspeakers for azan.

The only thing that Secular country would do is ensure that no one can take non-Muslims for a ride. The State will not discriminate between its people on the basis of religion.

What was his religion?

A secular state may or may not take a non-Muslim for a ride however a Muslim state would ensure that all minorities get equal opportunity and rights.

@Jf Thunder @Norwegian

My favourite recent personality is late Nelson Mandela. When he became President, racial tensions were high. Blacks were baying for the bloods of the Whites. Blacks wanted laws, from education to sports , to give preference to them, even Mandela's own party mens. Such was the aspirations of the Black people.

But what Mandela did? He brushed aside all criticism. He gave equal rights for all, which were clearly unpopular at that time. He was not afraid to take decisions. See where South Africa is now. Better if not worse, however a unity is present all over the country.

Pakistan should have a leader (even India) to have a visionery like Mandela, that will be good for the future, instead of following narrow minded interest in short term.

Please read my post above.

well in the times of Prophet women and men dont have such dirty thoughts in their minds ... today when ever you see a men and women together , mostly think negative ....
as there is a hadith i am not sure about .. that " A men and women are never alone , devil is always amongst them " @Zarvan , @Jf Thunder can quote the right one ...
it is metaphorically and can be taken a it is :)

Even when they didnt have a dirty mind back then, not 1 hadith shows any women leading a prayer....

please post where you read....I have heard rumours about such things but nothing solid...
The only 1 i know is the "progressive liberal" lady in Canada who did such a thing....
She led prayers where women and men stood shoulder to shoulder and prayed...some even prayed without covering their head and others were just fidgeting during prayers esp standing in the middle of 2 women....not sure how much concentration did such a compact style prayer got them

Nope after prophet passed away his wives and daughters were more knowledgeable than any man alive....but none led a single prayer between men and women...yes they can lead for women only!

So you say and I can accept that, but your fellow Muslim Pakistanis here believe that the law which gives death penalty to those to leave Islam is quite justified while inviting others to leave their religion. That is not equal opportunity and rights.

Would not you say that it is better to tell this to him(or her) than me?

Not bad

Worship in ALLAH's way in obedience not in OUR way!

I mean who will interpret / do itjihad to reform Islam with modern times so that it is accepted by all 1.6 billion Muslims?

Not very logical are we?! All men?
Suppose, there is a war going on. Men are often tired and sick on the war front. Who will lead the prayers there?

Look at history...the land was created as a safe place for Muslims...that is what the Muslim league was about....To protect the Muslims....What was that supposed to lead to?
To oppress non-Muslims? One can protect right of Muslims without oppressing non-Muslim minorities, can't we?

Nope after prophet passed away his wives and daughters were more knowledgeable than any man alive....but none led a single prayer between men and women...yes they can lead for women only!
Who cares what those women did after the prophet (SAW)? Why are we blindly following their acts literally without questioning? It was tribal arab society. Not entirely modeled on Islamic principles.

Blasphemy is a word derived from the bible...can you tell me the word in the Quran that people have substituted with blasphemy?
Tauheen Risalat?

I don't agree with your 99 % Islamist BS!

LOL. Where has it even happened in practice?

"Whenever a man is alone with a woman the Devil makes a third."
What about God?

What is not bad?

they are not a sect
They were before 1974! LOL :D
