Since I'm an expat i can tell you that i have a "pessimistic" view than those who live in Vietnam. You just don't understand but Vietnamese in Vietnam expect the country to reach the middle income status within 5 years at most, while i believe it takes 6 or 7 years. Middle income status is easy, nothing is difficult about it. Economic development is about having a good standard of living that include a house, car, cell phone, tivis, refrigerator, healthcare etc. Most Vietnamese already have these basic necessity of life, i dont see the difference between what those in the U.S here have those in Vietnam doesn't have, maybe private jet for each individual like what people in Switzerland have, lol.
As for your mentioning of your "high tech" products, they just serve your domestic markets of 1.4 billion of course they can have big sales volume that's why i dont see any of them in the u.s or even Vietnam. You can file a million patents that you want but you are not inventing anything. All the great invention of the modern industrial age has been invented by the European and used since the last 200 years, you can keep filing your patents, not my concern
