I dearly hope so. Before anybody screams 'democracy' lets look at some facts -

• Every so called champion of democracy was born in the womb of military
• Think Bhutto and Ayub Khan
• Think Zia and Nawaz Sharif

Fact is without Zia nobody would have known who the hell NS is. Without Ayub nobody would have known who the hell Bhuttos are. Both were "Make by military". Right now we have Imran Khan. He has cultivated his own credentials but if military gives him a push to get over the incumbent advantage that Nawaz has built up in the preceding decades ever since Zia anointed him in 1980s. IK would be only getting less of what NS and ZAB got.

So I sincerely hope that IK gets the chance this time. I am not saying he is going to turn out to be the best thing Pakistan ever had but what choice do we have? More of NS, more of Bhutto/Zardari, more MQM terrorists. So I hope IK gets a chance. At least he will be a fresh chance and the only possibility of 'rebooting' the system or we can have the familiar faces again, again and again.

I am not convinced we have seen the last of Nawaz and Zardari/Bhutto clan. They still got their huge footprint in Pakistani bureaucracy which they will use in next election, neither I am convinced about the care taker PM. Above all, the establishment it seems is also not interested to revamp the system. "Same old shite" is waiting around the corner.
