I vaguely remember the American XM-29 was canned because of it's weight and inferior muzzle velocity. This Chinese OIWS is lighter than the XM-29 and only 1.75kg heavier than the standard issue QBZ-95 rifle. What I'm more concerned about is the idea of mating a grenade launcher to any gun in the first place. The added bulk (weight and especially SIZE) of the grenade launcher would always impede the soldier whether they needed it or not so I don't see this as being necessary except in urban environments. It would be more logical to only use dedicated rifle and grenade launcher for China's needs. Only countries like the United States and its allies might need this because they occupy urban environments in their numerous invasions and coup d'etats, and they have mostly rejected OIWS designs because of their weight, bulk and inferior performance.i dont think it will be mass deployed, empty weight of 5KG is still too heavy for a unit...but it will be probably used by some elite mechanized infantry
