What's new

Çay Bahçesi

Dear brothers, I've a question about fulfilling my duty as a male citizen of the Republic of Turkey. I'm currently planning to perform my military service as soon as I get my diploma (approx. 1 year from now) when I've officially become a software engineer. This makes me think about some questions (each gets weirder and weirder, as I noticed after writing them);
  1. I have somewhat long hair - do I have to get a buzz cut?
  2. Can I somehow make use of my education that I've got in Sweden, or does it become irrelevant once I become a conscript?
  3. Does one get a chance to choose any kind of specialization, or is it entirely random what they make out of you?
  4. Some people (friends, family, doctors) would say that I'm kinda unstable - mentally. I've got some issues and can get kinda physically violent, but that requires some provocation and doesn't really happen out of the blue. I'm perfectly "normal" for 99.9% of the time. However, I'm taking a bunch of pills and can't really quit doing so, so I would have to get my medication during my time in uniform - is this possible? I wouldn't want the officials to know about my conditions as they probably would reject me, but at the same time I need to get my pills.
  5. What are the odds that I get to slay some cavemen nowadays? I really want to be placed in SE Turkey and get my hands dirty, but I've understood that they are only position professionals in hot areas lately, not to mention that the hunting season is closed due to "peace talks"...
I can almost recall that I might have asked some of these questions before, but I can't find that post as it must have been a long time ago. Might not even been here I've asked.

Thanks in advance!

if you are serious about 4 then I would suggest not joining
due to it being a conscription based force , you will have a lot of guys piss you off

It roughly translates to 'Sir' in Urdu; essentially its an honorific way of addressing someone.

If you called me Sahip, it would feel like

@rmi5 wasnt Mohammad Reza Pahlavi the oppressive one or also Rezah Shah Pahlavi?

Reza Pahlavi was also a dictator, like his son, but he did very important things to turn Iran from relatively illiterate nation during Qajars to a modern nation state, but he also did many wrong things.
In the former context, he is like Ataturk which did the same thing for transition of Ottoman empire to modern Turkey, but with more wrongs and mistakes.

Whatever he was to his own people; he was a great friend of Pakistan who helped us in our time of need especially in our Wars with India where he allowed Pakistani planes to land & refuel from Iran - The Shah has my utmost respect for that !

I was talking about his father, Reza shah.

The one you said is his son, Mohammad Reza and yes, he helped Pakistan in its wars, I give you that. :)

Centruies ago a few Medieval scholars deducted from their observations that the World was flat; after a while some other people deducted by science that the World was not flat but round.

by this approach you are ...?

Pakistan was not even created during Reza Khan ;) You are probably talking about Mohammad Reza.
So, basically what matters to you is whether they have helped Pakistan or not, regardless of how sick bastard he has been?:lol::lol:
It's very funny that Pakistanis criticize USA for seeking her own interests, while all matters for you is your own country interests.:lol::lol:
