Cash rewards for reporting waste in Punjab

District government has set up a complaint cell seeking public cooperation to keep the city clean.

Citizens are being given Rs1,000 to Rs5,000 for pointing out ***** littered sites, cattle pens and presence of stagnant water in the city,.
Talking to reporters on Tuesday, District Coordination Officer Gulzar Shah said that the incentive was advertised on May 30. Since then, he said, some 160 people had contacted the Solid Waste Management and identified various trash sites.

District Officer (Solid Waste Management) Yar Mohammad said that nearly 30 people registered their complaints on daily basis.
“They have mainly been pointing out water-related issues and complaining about Water and Sanitation Authority officials’ performance,” he said.
He said the department was picking 350 tonnes of trash from the entire city on daily basis. He said prompt action was being taken after the registration of complaints. The DO said that the management had set up seven primary collection centres in the city where the trash was collected and then shifted out of the city.
He appreciated public response and said it was helping them achieve their cleanliness targets in the city.

With all the trash being picked up and collected, itll give birth to recycling industries in pakistan. There is a lot of money in recycling. My uncle started a small factory from his plot outside lahore and today, he has a huge piece of land near sargodha where he recycles garbage and export plastic to other countries.

is it for whole punjab or just Lahore because if its whole punjab than people need to report waste sites in rawalpindi, and dco need to visit raja bazaar himself....

I do like the Policy by Nawaz on waste management and cleaning the city only if this can be done on ALL cities basis
