Cargo ship sinks off Pakistan, Indian crew rescued
Islamabad, May 22 (DPA) Pakistan's navy Monday rescued a crew of nine Indians and two Sri Lankans from a freighter that foundered in the Arabian Sea off the port of Karachi.
A Pakistani navy vessel spotted the stricken MB Mariam some 230 km out to sea and lifeboats were then dropped from the air. All 11 crew members were picked up, the Geo news channel reported.
The vessel registered in Sierra Leone was carrying scrap metal from Iraq to India when it ran into difficulties. The cause of the accident was not clear.
