Capt. Ahsan Malik - 31 Baluch

Captain Ahsan Malik was awarded Sitara-e-Jurat for his gallantry at Kamalpur [Gen Sam Manekshaw also recomended him for medal]. He served in the Pakistan Army after the war. I'm not sure what rank he retired in or about his whereabouts but i ve learned that he was serving in the army till the 80's.

Col Sultan was also awarded SJ (his second, the first one was in 65), and retired as a Brigadier. He also wrote a book on his war experience. He died in 2000.

I had read about another one of brave Pakistani Generals, I cant recall his name. But it is said about him that he was the only serving officer in the PA in 71 who officially didnt surrender to the indian army. As when he was captured he was injured and thus his subordinate had done the formalities. But he was one of the men who never gave into the indian onslaught.

2 things are required for trace - PA No and PMA LC No. ISPR is very reluctant to help in these matters.

i am guessing he was from 48-49 LC

he served the army till mid 90's and retired as a full col ... then he was in PIA and retired as a Director in 2005 ... I feel very proud to say that am his son

That would be Major General Tajammul Hussain.

Update:

Almost after 30 years on 28th of july 1999, Indian Chief of Army staff, field marshal Manekshaw (aged 85 years) was interviewed by Karan Thapar.
In the interview when Thapar asked "how much credit does go to Indian army when Pakistani army couldnot meet the expected bravery in the battle field?", field marshal Manekshaw's answer took everyone by surprise, he said this is not true, Pakistan army fought very bravely, but there was no hope for them to win......He further told about a brave young man who fought the Indian units on the "Maan bridge" so bravely in defence of Dhaka that the Indian army was only able to break through this "single man's defence" in their third attempt.
After return from Dhaka Manekshaw wrote a letter in honour of this brave young man, wanted him to know that Indian Army Chief honours his bravery......During his visits to Pakistan, he also discussed with Pakistani counterparts about this brave man, and suggested to be awarded with the highest military award.

this brave man was none other than Captain Ahsan Malik !!
