In a wake of Indian Interested to acquire Predator drones from america , a very significant questions come that where these drones will be used. Along many options , use in pakistan air space is one . Keeping in mind the statement of one of pakistan minister that they lacks capability to hit american drones a question arises can't these predator drones be hit by fighter planes or any air defense system. Thread opened for knowledge sharing not for trolling or for any offence.

What to speak of Predator even the so called stealth drone's can be easily downed.....Remember RQ-170 Sentinel which Iran captured? So yeah if they will be coming to Pakistan from the Eastern side, it's 100% confirmed that they will never go back. Pakistani establishment blatantly lies on this issue even a primitive fighter jet can smoke a drone, be it predator or any other.

For taking a drone they need to have a SAM network in place. Seeing the region around Afghanistan which is forested and mountaineous its tough to provide SAM or even Radar coverage. If we operate a Predator from the east, we should enter it in an area with less Radar coverage. Or else might be brought down. The Advantage is obviously high altitude and low RCS of drones which makes detection tough and confusable. Only US might have 100% SAM coverage over their territory.

Secondly I believe most of Drones strikes does take place with permission of Pakistan, whateva they might have told publicly.

No offensive, can you elaborate more on how a fighter jet can go after a drone which is flying way above the sealing height of fighter plane , also these is issue of BB codes , as far as F-16 is concerned it won't fire on American made weapons with same BB codes.

That Drones went out of control i,e fallen well below its working height.

Watch this video........And as usual don't try to concoct excuses as how this was possible, as it answers your actual question incisively.

We have allowed United States to hit targets in tribal areas, and for strategic & political reasons no one is interested in shooting down American drones.
Otherwise shooting down drone is not a big deal. Against Militants they are effective for being cheap, precise and safe but against Militaries they are no major threat ......

Absurd. BB codes is a lame theory nothing real about it.
F16, Jf17, F7, Mirages CAN shot down any type of drone they might face.
Plus there is no reason to air borne a aircraft just for the sake of shooting down UAV.
Manpads and Air defense can do the job in more effective way......

Does they work at a height of 60,000 feet or above???

Flight ceiling
MQ1: 25000 feet Max or 7.6KM
which is within range of Man pads within Pakistani inventory
MQ9:25000 feet Max or 7.6KM
Same story here
MQ4 Global Hawk (Only reconnaissance plane)
Flight ceiling: 60000 feet 18.8 KM
Interceptable with Medium rannged SAM

You can cross check these stats yourself

subject discussed ad nauseum....any drone can be shot down. PAF proved it long ago (in 2002 to be exact). The indians are aware of it quite well

has more to do with politics and the unusual arrangements in place whereby govt. condemns them for public consumption but quietly backs them

 If a Global hawk is flying within range of SAM batteries someone is getting fired. It's an ISR platform with long-ranged sensors, no need to be too close. It'll skirt a nation's airspace, much like an EC-130 or U-2, but never enter into it:

The B-1B also has a flight ceiling of 60,000 feet... it too will utilize stand-off capabilities to avoid SAM batteries and interceptors.

You can theoretically do this or that, but operationally, you'd not be given a chance.

18.8 Km is Max flight cieling of a Global Hawk as far as the statistics are concerned. Rest you can check up max range of Medium ranged SAM.

We all know only reason US has been allowed drones due to consent of our military and civilian leadership. If our leadership wasn't so shameless then even an American fly wouldn't be allowed in our airspace. It is not question of capability but the will to do so.

Those arguments are reminiscent of claims that aircraft like the B-52 or the H-6 are useless in the face of modern-day air defense systems. Or that ACs without native SAMs are sitting ducks when pitted against enemy vessels. :D

They can be shot down the loc is heavily guarded plus unlike US we have no deal with India
