What's new

Canada is going on a massive immigration drive

Pre-pandemic i would have thought yeah its alright, policy wise
But now with pending food shortages, energy and food hyperinflation, is a recipe for disaster
Provinces simply don’t have resources to deal with such influx

There’s already reports of multiple families/generations living in small apartments/houses…..its a can of worms. Affordability is a big issue now regardless of who gets in. Same prices fir all

Don't come to Canada... that's my fair and concise comment. The purpose is not to demotivate but more like realistic view on this.

1. you can't get your level of job or desire job that fits you or perhaps you've to wait yearssss to get the right one. Can't say anything about "Luck" but ratio is 99% you won't get the job on TIME and the RIGHT one.
2. Canada is known for its medium pay scale.
3. Taxes are way ********* high.
4. you won't make money the way you make it in the US.
5. You can't buy a home in Canada (the most expensive country when it comes to buying your own house).
6. APR is extremely high for mortgages. Canada became a country where you can't afford your own home (Search it).
7. Cars are ***** expensive for no ***** reason.
8. Eventually, everyone at the end comes to Toronto but it's an expensive place to live. You have to earn at least 80-100 minimum if you've two kids. Else there is no reaon to live in far suburb... Better to stay in your country then.
9. Higher education is expensive compared to European countries whether you're Citizen, on PR, or non-resident.
10. After the Pandemic, everything is *****up. Inflation is soo high, the Government failed to counter it.

:: Pro ::

Quality of Life and education esp good for Kids but for that, you have to earn handsome money!

PS: Already became mini India

Agree with everything you said except education is actually cheaper compared to Europe. What happens after you get education here is a disaster and a whole new issue. indeed this place has already become "mini India"

Many use Canada as a stepping stone to get to USA once they get a Canadian passport.
IIRC it was the other way around.

After 911, US Citizens don't need a Passport to access Canada, and Canadian Citizen do require a passport check to go to Canada.

But if you are talking about getting Temporary Visa or Work Visa, then there are not much different except if you are an actor, because the US don't have work visa just for Canadian, they do have E-Visa option tho but that is for basically everyone who had Free Trade Treaty with the US, like the UK, Australia.

It generally wouldn't help much if you are in Canada and wanted to work in the US.

I think Canada has special immigration rules for India. There is a massive influx of Indian students here already. In 15 years from now, it will be Indian territory. I asked immigration layer about my niece in Pakistan getting admission here. He told me visa relaxation is for Indians only.

Whenever I have traveled back to Canada in the last 4 or 5 years, almost 40% of inidividuals in immigration line up are Indians.

I was simply referring to the much larger job market south of the border that Canadians like to take advantage of, wherever and however possible, for the greater economic rewards it offers.

Canadians can work in usa under the NAFTA (TN visa), i forget the new term but still same stuff…easy if u hav job offer from usa

Yeah, you still have to apply E-Visa for any Canadian to access those market tho....And the requirement is basically the same as H1B, you just don't need to wait that long because it is specific for some group of people...

That, by itself, is a big advantage. And not being subject to annual quotas, unless for university jobs, which are exempt.

Well, not sure about the Canadian Treaty Visa, but for E-3 (Australian Treaty Visa) you don't get green card at the end, you will need to move to the H1B stream if you want to get Green Card to stay in the US indefinitely. Otherwise you need to renew that visa every 2 years.

Most Australian I know don't care about E-3 Visa, if they want to go work in the US, they apply for a H1 Visa. Not sure about Canadian tho.

This thread is about Indian immigration.

Show Indian trains, in the right context.

Stop lying.....
You sure its me lying?

Using one of your data points-
Screenshot_20221109_183837.jpg

3% Pakistanis prison pop

Screenshot_20221109_183741.jpg

1.86 % general pop.

That shows outperformance by relative pop.

Additionally Pakistanis are ranked sixth going into jail of all the countries nationalities in UK.

Back to the point I made, if other nations use such data to modify their immigration policies thats understandable.

My advice to new immigrants would be to leave your pride at home. I've seen some Indian immigrants with no academic potential spend lot of money on useless courses and several years trying to get an office job rather than just driving a truck or working as an electrician or plumber since that is "beneath them". They would rather work as a clerk doing data entry or customer support all day in an office for 15 bucks an hour rather than drive a truck or be a plumber earning 60-70k an year.

Again, this is not true for Punjabis, those guys would do any job that pays the most, they form the majority of new truck drivers.
