had we decided to cheat the original manufacturers and decided to copy and reverse engineer these fighters we would have lost our trust and relationship with other nations. Instead we chose to learn from them,we license produced these fighters and has built them completely in India. Had we decided to give new names for them,we would have been having several "Indegenous " fighters long time ago

Today,we have built them by our own and modified them to suit our needs and learnt new technologies without sacrificing our relationships.

same will happen wit Rafale ,we will license produce them and not "copy" and absorb the knowledge and know how

Well harshit all i can say is ..... AGAR DOOSRE KA MOOH LAAL HO TO THAPPAR MAAR KE APNA MOOH LAAL NAHI KERTE :coffee:

.
wrong section ........

mods kindly move the thread to appropriate section

.
First of all wrong section, secondly not without the help of Russia.

Mod please move it to the Indian Defence section.

.
There is nothing wrong in it as long as we have license to do it. SU-30 MKI is being manufactured in the country, so why not Rafale.

.
Their is nothing wrong in learning from ToT of rafale and adding some of its technology{with our inputs} in AMCA...but Copying entire will be a bad Idea reason
Firstly,It will tarnish our image in defence equipment market because of which other manufacturers will hesitate in providing arms to India
Secondly,its 4.5th Gen Jet....

.
@harshitrajyaguru India is going for MMRCA for technology transfer, Because of arms embargo India fell behind in its tech development.

India wants to bridge the gap with MMRCA, MMRCA as it appears is not about squadrons of fighter jets, It is a cooperation of French Dassault and Indian HAL.

India needs tech related to AESA,Avionics suite, Advanced Missiles, Jamming etc. and India also has to absorb them into our domestic industry there by developing our own Aerospace engineers.

Within a Decade or so because of JV's with Russia and France India can build its own stealth fighter jet and Unmanned stealth Bomber.

With that knowledge and tech base India can also develop 6th generation fighter jet.

Even if one keeps the Ethics aside, its not an easy task to reverse engineer a complex technology. The reason why you ask for Technology transfer or joint developments is because you want to abosrb technology while understanding design philosphies. In todays world it is far easier to co-develop a product with someone who has mastery of a technology. That way you can not only customize a product but also improve the skill set of designers and competency of industrsy as a whole.

See the FGFA project where India in partnership with Russia is developing a truly Gen V fighter. Indians have command over Composite materials, Mission computers etc and Russians over other major aspects. At the end of it, both countries would have a formidable piece of Aircraft with cost and developments risks shared.
The same story goes for under development F-35 A/B/C where a number of NATO nations and US allies are pooling resources.

Hi,

Thank you for your post---at least some of the indian colleagues have not swallowed the 'stupid' pill today---. Rafale is a perfection in itself----it is also easily available to india---.

You would want to reverse engineer something because of the fear of sanctions----something not readily available to you---you have procured the item on black market or stolen the item in question---. In the end---your reverse engineered item will always be mechanically less capable than the original item.

The reason being---if you had the technical industrial and engineering base--you did not need to copy.

Answer is NO. India can not reverse engineer and make a Rafale of her own.

Therefore we are going for the other good option. We are going for license manufacturing of these aircrafts. License manufacturing and some ToT will hopefully help us in bridging the gap .
