Hi All

No Flames Please real Time scanerio

Can any one pls explain the threats of babur and Raad and how we will counter it.

Can babur Pentitrate Spyder Defence or can Spyder Defence intercepted Babur

Can babur Pentitrate Iron Dome or can Iron Dome intercepted Babur

Second Stage Can babur Pentitrate S300 or or can S300 intercepted Babur

Lets Discuss some of the points

An effective cruise missile defense must have four basic elements. Those elements are:
■ the capability to detect and then track a cruise missile after it is launched;
■ interceptors to destroy the attacking cruise missile;
■ a battle management and communications network that ties the first two elements
together and allows for seamless real-time engagements; and
■ the ability to effectively predict and manage the consequences of a cruise missile
attack.

There is no indication that Indian radars can even pick the Babur, perhaps not many radars can - not successfully, not till its too late, not a significant percentage of times.

Targeting terrain hugging missiles is no joke. Once you can target it, you can hit it, for sure.

no country can claim to have capability to successfully intercept ballestic missiles. whatever test have been conducted be it in US/Russia/israel/india have been under standard test conditions. in actual battle field the scenarios are different. also the ballestic missiles attacks will be multi pronged, that means many missile will be launched from different places in a single go. it will be difficult to detect and kill all missiles.

that is why ballestic missiles are so dangerous.

Babur and Raad are not ballistic missiles, they are cruise missiles

Even terrain hugging missiles can be tracked by radars. And I hope you already know, that when in terrain hugging mode, the range of a missile is easily reduced to 1/4th of its original range, due to much higher drag, and denser atmosphere.

If the missile is targeted at some place that is 20-30 kms within Indian border, then there is little we can do to stop it, but if you are thinking of hitting something 400-500 kms within India, that will be very tough to do.

i was stating in generall abt all missiles be it cruise or ballestic.

there are too many variables involved in successfull interception:

1. capability of tracKing radar.
2. capacity for early detection.
3. respnse time avl for launching missile.
4. time taken for launching missiles.

thats is why its so difficult especially if the respnse time (like in case of india and pak) is very less.

i love this thread. ALL USERS SHOULD COME UP WITH CALCULATIONS. PLEASE SPARE ALLAMA IQBAL AND GHAZWAE HIND FOR A WHILE.

If we(army/taliban/tribes-men) can shoot down Tomahawk cruise missile, than indians can shoot down babur that is based on tomahawk.

Babur and Raad are terrain hugging stealth missiles.. no doubt about it.. stealth means Low observable ... which means Radars can pick them at certain distance.. If Babur and Raad are to target Air bases which are 100-200 km away from border... then forget it.. the moment it reaches the border it will be picked up by the Radars that are placed close to the borders .. Dont forget we have a very dense Radar network deployed in the west.. which means Mig's will be in air to intercept them before it reaches the target...
Not sure about the coastal Radar.. but if you want to attack and if the coastal radar's are not deployed then it is better to make a huge circle to reach the target.. If coastal radar's are deployed then god for bid ... you have no way to penetrate with cruise missiles ...

I guess only war will give us the answer to this question. Whatever the answer is, it will be a very expensive one for either side.

Currently Missile Defense systems do not have a 100% hit probability due to so many factors involved.

Interception is based on 2 steps :

Detection
Interception

With recent advancements in ground based radars, AWACS & enhanced surveillance it is possible to detect terror hugging Missiles. Modern radars are even able to identify birds flying between the borders, so a Missile should not be that hard. Once it is verified that it is Missile, counter offensive action must be taken.

If the incoming Missile's destination is somewhere very close to the Indian border, then it's unlikely to be intercepted before it reaches target. However, if the Radars have already detected the Missile while it was some 100 (or more) kilometers inside Pakistani airspace, then it might be intercepted. As the range increases, the probability of the missile getting intercepted increases. Because of the slow speed it is also possible to shoot it down through conventional means.

Laser based Missile defence systems are being developed but they haven't been proven as of now.
