What's new

Can anyone explain what happened in Karachi beach?

Yes they are the responsibilities of the govt, but what if the people constantly keep on ruining the facilities provided to them?

This 'khasma nu kha' attitude isn't going to get us anywhere.

Absolving the general public of everything and blaming it squarely on the govt isn't gonna get us anywhere either.

I can just imagine the scenario where the lifeguard and police say "Aap pani main na jayen khatarnaak hai" or "Is waqt pani main jana mana hai"...and the other guy replies "Yar main bara ustaad hoon" or "Tum kaun hotay ho bolnay walay, chal side par ho".

Even God Himself cannot help those who do not want to help themselves.

What you are describing is only one of the many outcomes of ignoring social development, particularly education, over decades. Pakistanis simply do not know how to behave any better in the circumstances your describe.

And that's my point.

The funny thing is, the very same Pakistanis, on any foreign beach, would likely behave impeccably in following the warnings. I wonder why?

Danda jo milta hai udhar.

If we start behaving strictly with anyone who breaks the law, the second person won't dare do anything.

If 10 years ago we had started publicly beheading terrorists, we wouldn't be in the menace of general radicalization we are now. But this is another topic.

Point being, it's high time somebody takes a stand and starts dealing strictly with no margin for affection.

Yara, dandey to Pakistan mein bhi bahut partay hein, but the difference is in the provision of effective law and order. Surely, that is the government's responsibility more than it is the of the general population.

A lot of ppl have moved to Karachi from FATA/kpk. For these young lads, beach and women wondering around is not less than a mussarat shaheen movie. They get excited....monsoon weather, vacations, plus 99% are usually high on cheap crack....disaster is inevitable in such scenario

Koi danda nhn parta Pakistan main.

I once knew a man who was from Vehari but living in Lahore. That land lord type of guy who owned multiple farms and lands and stuff.

He bought a brand new Mercedes and often traveled from Lahore to Islamabad. Routinely he broke the speed limit.

The fine at that time was about 500 or something meager like that (at least for him). He would get fined 5-6 times on one trip, and this didn't pinch him at all. He could be sh!tting 5000 rupees at one time in his farm for all he cared.

Had he been fined 70k or something big like that, with his license suspended and car impounded, he wouldn't have dared do something like that again.

This is what is needed in Pakistan, pinch a man where it hurts. I love Finland.

Haha, I did get caught in one, but haven't got it.

These lathi charges don't do sh!t. They don't deter anyone!

I am talking about the danda straight from the top of the food chain, not from a constable, whose danda isn't going to have any significant bearing on the recipient.

People do enter to the sea without knowing how to swim???...
well......... now i start to understand why number of fatalities were so high

They dared to do it and play with the mother nature for their own satisfaction while in response the mother nature did some natural selection. It's always unfortunate for those who are not fit enough.

The devastating earthquake in the northern areas in 2005 was also Mother Nature at work. Would you apply your logic of natural selection to that situation too?

Provision of safe recreational facilities, and of proper emergency services should be the emphasis here, not blaming the victims.

But they chose to build houses in a known earthquake prone area with active fault lines. Blaming victims for what Mother Nature does is a slippery slope.

How much info they had about the tectonic activities of that area is debatable...

I agree..But its like equating driving a car (you "may" get in an accident and die) vs riding your bike at full speed at a red light (coz the swimmers were warned) into a bus also driving at full speed ... or jumping into a burning building for no reason
--- not very comparable but there are somethings that one needs to use their brain for...
