this is the same person who was supporting the iraq war. when was the last time americans came out and protested the killing of innocent afghans and iraqis. they dont protest for the civilian deaths they protest for the death of their soldiers. when was the last time russians came out and protested over the killing of innocent Chechen.

No, you really dont. Kashmiri die every day at the hands of Indian troops. This whole Mumbai incident is so damn shady that its a joke Indians want a war over it. They started pointing fingers at Pak within minutes. If they had waited to launch a real investigation, and waited for actual results, then Pakistan might be taking this incident seriously. Its quickly turned into a blame game and obvious election PR stunts.

America is quickly becoming the most hated country because they have perfected the art of using one word Terrorist arguments to launch attacks, kill people, and use these deaths as a political tool. Why is India adopting these tactics?

Didn't you read the caption - these are not your middle-class protesters, they're religious students who are stuffed to their gills with Jehadi teachings.

Street protests are a great way to shore up support - which is why they are legal and encouraged in democracies.

The massive protests, not by fanatics or political parties, but ordinary, middle-class Mumbaikars and Delhiites and Bangaloreans that are happening are being celebrated in India, not discouraged.

Where is Pakistani civil society? Ordinary students, teachers, professionals? What will it take for them to come out on the street and make their voices heard?

I would have to agree on that.There are many other factors involved in these lack of protests.

I really dont think a Pakistani would like to see his fellow Pakistani die in terrorist attacks.
I am sure Pakistanis have a lot of pent up frustrations and anger on how their own kin are getting killed due to terrorism.

But i think they are not able to channelize this anger in the form of protests,demonstrations etc.Maybe because for so many years there has been military dictatorship that political activism especially civil society activism is very weak.

In complete contrast is India where i believe there is far too many bandhs,rallies,protests,marches on almost everything.Indian society over the years has only had to become more 'activist' mainly because of sleeping government and democracy taking its roots.
Its more similar to judicial activism in India where the judiciary has to do some of the executive's works because of an inefficient executive and bureaucracy.
