C17 white tails: A reality or A distant dream ?

Y20 is a good option but the engine for Y20 is still an issue.
well we r not inducting them right now..............we may consider them in future and by that time all such issues will be over

. .
A $350 million plane thats cost around $450 with all options and training.

If Pakistan has this much money, it can easily buy commercial jets from Boeing for PIA. The cost of maintenance and cost to operate will be very high too for C-17s. On top that, we dont really have a need for it.

A sensible post money spent on these can be better spebt even inside the PAF

. .
And getting J-31 isn't a wet dream? Or the wet dream of having a type 93g nuclear submarine on lease. One should be open to possible outcomes. Not everyone thinks cold logically like youself.

Again wasting thread space with childish wet dreams plzz stop this and first read up learn and know what you are talking about stop these dumb fairy tales .

Cold Logical ? interesting words to be used when not making any possible sense in the real world ... J-31 so far is a hopeful reality Nuke Sub is in the works for the future hopeful we will make it and will work there is no secret there while these other toys aren't my friend. I been around this forum for a long time , have friends in the PAK armed forces my father is ex PN and i have some what knowledge of the armed forces and I live in the real world . As much I would love a fairy tale or so called wet dream wish list one has to be realistic and not opening threads on wasteful and not real deals is plain dumb so please try to understand real logic rather then writing back with nothing .

Anticipated from a naval guy.

Recently there been recently a change on the sale of a small number of c17 globemasters white tails of Australia . Noted that these are and will be the last off of the production line Pakistan Should try to negotiate and pursue these air crafts as they can be refitted to serve as fuel tankers or the conventional rapid transport of our troops at the our of need with provided assistance from saudi Arabia these units can be aquired.

Y-20 is coming with more economic price and flexibility and without any string attach it can serve your requirement. buying 300 million dollar a piece is not possible for PAF.

Do we really need these heavy transport aircraft??? in a considerable number? I dont think so. We are a smaller country and limited resources so we should spend that wisely. Heck even with the funds available i do not see them of being much use to us. Our troop transportation needs are met by C130 and army aviation. There is not much places in Pakistan that do not have a ground unit deployed near by for rapid response where we will need to airlift the forces. If at all, we can get some more Il-76 as we are operating 4 of them already (Il-78 refuelers based on IL-76) and are very happy with these. They served as air to air re-fuelers as well and transport role bringing some weaponry from different countries as being discussed in relevant thread :)

Can any of the Mods close this thread . Please do it thank you

We dont even have money to buy new C-130H/J, let alone the Globemaster.

.
1. We don't need jet powered heavy lift aircraft because most of our supply sorties land on very crude airstrips that cannot receive a jet, that too of this size.

2. There's no way the GoP can afford the C-17 at this moment, we are strapped for cash and the C-17 is a luxury we cannot afford.

They are useful when it comes to disaster relief, and emergency evacuations, as seen in Nepal and Yemen.

But Given PAF budget I would recommend getting 6 C130Js for 1 Billion USD

They will prove handy should their be another quake or flood
