India is in kind of dilemma ,for what to go and for what not to.

On one side they have Russia but Russia is not a big problem as they can be managed by 5th generation deal

Then it comes to Sweeden who is offering more TOT out of all competitors also is agreed to work with local companies ,and you can't get a better opportunity to develop your local industry

but then on the other side You have US who is really trying hard to sell their aircraft and india buy tilting towards US side and being in their corner if rejects that might effect other deals plus may have negative impact on diplomatic relationship. Also the most important factor for India is to have their foot in Afghanistan and they can't do so without uncle sam's help

The last but not the least EF-2000 which by far is technologically superior out of all the aircrafts and rejecting it would really be a bad news also when india already is operating british aircrafts and have years long cooperation in defence field will make it easy to maintain a british origin aircraft

We are not in a dilemma.. The MoD has made a clear statement that we already has a programme regarding the 5th gen and more than happy with that.

Regarding MRCA.. we are making the decision late as the fighters involved are not yet fully mature. For instance EF, Gripen- AESA. France - goodies and price, F-18, F-16 - ToT offers and maturity of F-16IN...
Mig-35 is not an option since we have Mig-29 which is similar and are undergoing upgrades.. and we dont need to have a tender to buy from Ruskies..

We have shifted from Russians in the field of transport aircrafts to better US ones and its been made clear that fighter jets decision is based on the ToT and intellectual capital involved..

The ball is in the court of US now.. we just need to sit back and relax till they come up with an offer we cant refuse. :smokin:

The main problem for EF-2000 and Rafale is that they don't have an AESA operational but it can be sought out .It was announced that Rafale AESA will be operational till 2012 and even if india orders today till the first aircraft delivers there would be an AESA radar fitted .EF-2000 also known to soon have Vixen AESA radar .Another option would be to start the induction of the aircarft if AESA doesnot come operational then you can latter upgrade it .

If MRCA is decided today , i think the first aircraft will be delivered after a year ,till then there are great chances of them coming up with AESA

Mig-35 is also not my choice because you can upgrade mig-29 with same AESA mig-35 is using if required.Gripen NG will really take sometime .And F-16's will not be ideal since they are already been used by PAF for decades ,why to have an aircraft you opponent already operates?
F-18 would be a good choice but will that be good enough for airforce because by far we have seen F-18 operated by the USN ,USAF rejected F-18 and were never used by them rather they preferred F-16's same was the case with PAF when F-18 were offered Paf instead went for F-16 .Also there is always a embargo thing involved when it comes to US and i m really happy that PAF is moving away from US and thats why total number of F-16's block 52+ was reduced

US really have a habit of embargoes not only with Pakistan they did so rather there are many other countries suffering an embargo .if you don't follow the US directions they will punish you for that in shape of embargoes
