Burqa 'not welcome' in France: Sarkozy

Although it has been deleted, the remark by an Indian about skimpy clothing being banned in Saudi deserves a response.

The banning of veil in France and the illegality of skimpy, sluttish dressing in Saudi are not comparable for one main reason:

-Many women view the veil as an expression of their faith, and a necessity.
-in contrast, dressing like a slut is not part of anyone’s religion, and is not viewed as a necessity.

In conclusion, the miniskirt is offensive to most respectful human beings and goes against their morals, whereas the veil does not go against a society that prides itself on tolerances and freedom of expression.

I gave a classic example of 3 different UAE emirates. The post was deleted however the text can be found in post # 6 of Al-Zakir.

An Islamic country have different laws on dress codes in different emirates. Whats ur opinion on it?

There is no such thing as an islamic country - dubai does not call itself an Islamic country, neither does Turkey. Tunisia on the other hand is going against its own laws that give people right to express their faith.

Brother, present government did withdrew the ban on hijab however I believe the secular court reimpose previous ban on uni.....

I think its unconstitutional in Turkey wear Hijab or religious dress in Government and Public buildings.

Although the Islamic Government removed the ban the court went against the decision for the above reason. I am not sure about it.

There is Islamic Country or Islamic Emirate.

Pakistan is an Islamic Republic and so does Iran where as Turkey is not.

The political system of the United Arab Emirates, based on the 1971 Constitution, comprises several intricately connected governing bodies. The highest state authority is the Supreme Leader. Sunni Islam is the official religion and Arabic is the official language.

It is applicable for Dubai as well as a Emirate of UAE.

The Taliban claimed that they wanted Islamic Shariah in their lands, claimed that they were acting in accordance with Islamic shariah, and claimed to represent Islam.

Quite often, the difference between reality and what is alleged is poles apart.

The point is, by their actions these states are not acting Islamic. A state claiming to be Islamic on the one hand and then banning the veil on the other is undoubtedly up to some monkey business.

OK. agreed.

I was just countering your argument that there is nothing called as Islamic Country.

Should we get back to topic?

so much for "freedom of expression"

Surprised? NO, you shouldn't be. Sarkozy is a bonafid zionist, and former MOSSAD. I remember during his first 'victory' and there was clamour about his Mossad past over Italy and Europe, then huge media suppression. All of a sudden, France being pro-Palestine become pro-Israel.

What it has to do with Sarkozy's background?

Even turban for sikhs are banned in France.

Despite of requests from Indian PM who is sikh himself the ban continues.

All of a sudden, France being pro-Palestine become pro-Israel.:

French are baniya.

They sold 2 Augosta 70 and 3 Augosta 90 to Pakistan then sold 6 Scorpene to India.

Then offer Merlins to Pakistan.

Their policy is not one person centric (In this case sarkozy).

Hence the Palestine - Israel example doesnt work.

Thanks for clarification. I agree with you about France in that business is business. Sarkozy is very unpopular in France now. But france is indeed afraid of 'ethnicities' and 'religion', and may french people are wary of any 'change' to their culture. But banning it is for the excuse of 'supression' of women is lame. I know many muslim women who CHOOSE to wear it, and I believe in turkey most muslim women don't wear it.

What's the big deal???:crazy:If a powerful nation like France is afraid of some of her citizens wearing a Burqa, then there's greater inherent problems not discussed....:toast_sign:

So what? France has every right to ban the 'burqa' it is their country. If they feel the burqa transgresses their policies both secular and security then yes they absolutely may ban it.

Besides, what PM. Sarkozy really said if a women chooses not to wear a burqa she may do so and her family cannot force her to. Though someone mentioned it was a sign of subservience, which is really an irrational judgment because some women wish to protect their modesty in accordance with their religion (their religious practice & interpretation).

But it should be noted that the burqa is not necessarily a Quran mandate, modesty is and their are other types of clothing for that. But the 'burqa' is extreme. It can also create a security risk, (people to walk around fully covered and hide their physical appearance completely).

Burqa is extreme it is not really something that is derived from Islam it is more of a wahabi-talibani cultural concept.

It shouldn't be encouraged either in Pakistan. Though if some women choose to wear it that is fine, their wish is respected.

Let's not be distracted or get heated by this little issue of the 'burqa' we Muslims have bigger agendas and goals to pursue, and InshAllah we shall reach the summit, the entire Ummah as it once did.

My apologies for not knowing muslim terminology. I thought it as just the cloth covering the head, but you described it, sounds like it covers the complete face (like Taliban requires). But saying that it is their country the can decide whatever is going too far, because they critize Afghan, and other nations. That is very hypocritical and not good. Besides, the problem is deeper than that. Anyway thanks for clarification. Didn't know burqa covered the face as well.:yahoo:

i totally disagree with you

this is a pervert thinking and this is mostly developed in either poor nations in the name of religion..where men are pathetic...and drink and smoke all day...and where women have to perform all basic homely work as well as outside also.....if u consider clothes as an expression of freedom than i agree.... but if you consider clothes as a function of religion or society..than it becomes pervertness...and thus leads to suppression of fair sex....it is as good as having a beautiful birds to whom you may be feed best diet daily but still the poor living creature is kept in cage...as she cannot fly....just let loose them and see they will never return even if u were giving them all comforts with best diet....this is freedom ..............

Ni Hao

Hey buddy that is alright it's okay, see that is why you have joined the forum, so you may learn about different people, religions, culture, societies and more.

Yes the Burqa is usually a black garment/sheet that completely covers the human body from head to toe.

Below is a link that shows you the "burqa" (on the right) and "niqab" on the left.

And below here is a picture of the "hijab" which is not extreme but quite understandable to wear.

Hope this fully clarifies any misunderstandings.
