18 years on, that seems highly unlikely any more. Muse didn't say US is inherently an evil country, he questioned what it has been "reduced to". Of course other US interests were a driving factor as well.Muslims have their own countries. The US went to war in Bosnia to prevent muslims from being slaughtered by Christians there. Spare me.
I don't think everyone in any nation agrees on anything.
What might be right reason for you may not be right reason for someone else.
Lets not get in the discussion of "right" and "wrong" all over again here.
Soooo...'Death to America' is love talk? Thanks for the enlightenment. It doesn't seem the event is cancelled as a confirmed thing, we'll have to see. Again, the event seems to have been cancelled to protect American troops, not out of any love for the Muslims.
And yet we see an overseas muslim claiming victimhood in the US where hate crimes against Jews outnumber against muslims by 10-1.
The root of the problem (raaq aur reesha) of the problem is that not only does the US populace think that it is OK to be an enemy of Islam, sections of the US government and media are similarly convinced that it's OK to be enemies of Islam and in particular of US Muslims.
I think there is at least a partial consideration for Muslims but you are probably largely right. Not everyone oppose this hate rally for the right reasons.
Muslims have their own countries. The US went to war in Bosnia to prevent muslims from being slaughtered by Christians there. Spare me.
It might be that its completely supposed to be out of respect for the Muslims, but they haven't made an effort trying to convince us of it.
Enlightenment? Explain? Haha which light bulb just switched on?Soooo...'Death to America' is love talk? Thanks for the enlightenment.
That 'Death to America' is supposed to make US swoons for muslims.Enlightenment? Explain? Haha which light bulb just switched on?
I disagree with the part about US Muslims. Until 9-11 most Americans did not even think about US Muslims either + or -. The heart of the US common man's attitude about Islam comes from the fact that a good many of the USA's enemies in the world (excepting Hugo C. and Kim Jong Il) are Muslim. Why? I think because of Israel. I believe that the USA's irrational support of Israel makes the USA the enemy of many Muslims, and then, many Muslims the enemies of the USA. Absent the conflict over Israel, the USA populace would go back to ignoring Islam and Muslims as anything that concerned them.
As for the Quran burning, I deplore it. Did you hear the story about all the Dari-language Bibles the US Air Force burned in Afghanistan? Seems they were shipped to Bahgram by some US church at the request of an airman there. He didn't know of the strict US military prohibition against distributing Christian literature in Afghanistan. The US Air Force burned them so they wouldn't leak out into Afghanistan and the USA be blamed for trying to convert Muslims to Christianity. So the US Government burned dozens of bibles, on purpose!!
Gambit
News flash -- US is also a Muslim country - US Muslims are Americans - you don't have to like it -- and you don't have to respect this either -- it's just reality, the more you fight it, the more it becomes real in the psyche of the nation, the more Americans get to know US Muslims and Islam in the US, so for my money, bring it on.
