The root of the problem (raaq aur reesha) of the problem is that not only does the US populace think that it is OK to be an enemy of Islam, sections of the US government and media are similarly convinced that it's OK to be enemies of Islam and in particular of US Muslims.
You will note that the effort of a section of the political elite and media are focused on driving home the suggestion that Islam is not American and US Muslims are kind of, sort of American, just less so than anyone else; this is a message neither the US government, nor politiicans, nor media is willing to challenge - recall that before the civil rights movement, majorities in the US thought there was no need for a civil rights movement, similarly, today, majorites in the US think it's Ok to be enemies of Islam and of US Muslims, because there is a general consensus that Islam and US Muslims are alien and that this is borne not from the 9/11 attacks by Al-Qaida but from the disapproval of Us Muslims and Muslim around the world of US foreign policy which they view as anti-Islam and anti-Muslim - and rightfully so, because that is exactly what they are - and which for a majority of people in the US is now synonymous with unpatriotic and alien.
What does this reflect about what US society has been reduced to?
