Also consider this dear, that 99% of the dowry in India is earned by men. That is right. It is men who break their backs working to accumulate the dowry money for their daughters and sisters. Hardly 1% of women may contribute to this effort.

That man getting the dowry from his wife, is supposed to earn the dowry for his sister and his daughter too. There are no free meals in India.

The figures for the West though are an improvement from the way things were back in 1970s when studies showed 100% of women being sexually harassed. Now in such a case even if there were data for India, you would agree would you not that 100% is hard to beat?

99% of dowry is earned by MEN ? So the money does not belong to the wife at all? It is a substantial amount in any family and it all belongs to the man????

I though you did the finances in your house, where does your husband come up with this money without any input from you? Or is in fact all the family money ONLY HIS?

did you look at the dowry murder case link in your own posted article link?? so why wasn't all this dowry business done between the bride's father/brother and groom/his-father?? why wasn't the bride herself given utmost comforts?? why was she murdered??

What is there to see above? Yuba commented on women who neither work in their house or in office but live off as moochers. I know of plenty of cases like that too and I agree men who do not stand up to such behavior deserve to be put down. Likewise, I would claim the same for women who give away their rights.

I own my house and some more. So do most of Bangaloreans. Site plus house value is above crore easily everywhere over here. We are talking only in this context. Majority of marriages though dowry would be very less, just a few grams of gold.

I not being harsh but say i did not work and my wife did. I would do the housework and cook otherwise i be treating my wife like a slave.

Wrong. I have stats for the West. I have stats for most crimes for both India and West and India comes off way better than the West in all these stats. So of the only stat that I do not have, i.e. of sexual harassment on streets I would dare say the trend which follows is the same. My warm fuzzy feeling has a factual trend to support it unlike your self-flagellation which has nothing going for it but your inferiority complex.

Women opt for donating a kidney to their husband as do husbands for their wives. It is a natural course for a union tied in love.

Wrong. I have stats for the West. I have stats for most crimes for both India and West and India comes off way better than the West in all these stats. If a man and a women are both working which is what the majority of middle class families at least in south india, the money is earned by both and belongs to both. If a man alone works the money still belongs to both. The wife is an equal financial partner in the marriage.
other than some of your friends who sit at home and wAit for their husbands to come home and do the house work, most women do a lot of UNPAID very hard work around the house. The money does not belong only to the man, unlike your presumption that only he earned it...t if he is married, his wife should get a say in how it is to be spent.

We are in Kali yuga man. A quarter of the so called Hindus do not believe in Hinduism. So while they pretend to be a Hindu to get a bride, they just go back to being the corrupt individuals they are once the marriage is done. So it is not traditional couples who are burning each other, it is greedy non-traditional people who do that.

I doubt anyone will give you their kidney if they know you. Most likely you will have to purchase one from the open market for exorbitant rates or pass your limited life on dialysis.
