I'm not sure I necessarily buy all this gloom and doom 'we're gonna pack up and leave' stuff. The US is in the middle of reanalyzing/restructuring its approach, and while the realization that some reconcilable elements of the Taliban have to be engaged and integrated into the Afghan power structure is welcome, I do not believe the US (at least) is going to pack up its bags and leave anytime soon.
