MUMBAI: A Russian military cargo aircraft AN-24 on Friday night intruded into Indian

airspace from Pakistan and landed at the international
airport out.

As the plane entered into Indian airspace without the right code, it was escorted to Mumbai airport by Indian Air Force planes, a spokesman of Mumbai International Airport Limited spokesman said here.

The MIAL spokesman said the plane with Russian markings came from Pakistani airspace and was escorted over the Mumbai airport by IAF planes.

The cargo aircraft landed at the airport at around 2240 hours after being allowed by the Air Traffic Control.

Security forces have surrounded the aircraft.

Maybe the Aircraft was hired by the Indian to covertly deliver arms and ammunition to the Talibans fighting against the Pakistan Army. Maybe the Indians want to make sure that the aircraft was not confiscated by the Pakistanis. Maybe the Indian Civil Aviation Authority was playing TETRIS while this aircraft came through to be a USAF fighter jet. Who Knows!

I don't think USAF operates An-32..

US may have leased it for logistics support. There are many Russian/Ukrainian companies providing cargo/logistic support to the ISAF. Not sure why every one is getting all excited over nothing. The pilot probably lost his bearing and ended up on the Indian side. He will be offered chai and sent off on his way. Nothing less and nothing more.

Indian Media is rubbish .....they will up the tempo without confirming the news first.....Its all about who reports it first, ahhh competition also has its side effects......

It was US a while back , now its Russia.....wonder whos next !!!
