What a bogus excuse, several Iranian weapon systems exist that are in serial production and use foreign engines. If cost analysis makes sense to import.

Please tell me why Turkey spends so much money to develop indigenous engines ?

We can't wait for foriegn countries to block our sources then we start thinking about developing it in house!

Yeah... it's cheaper to import pt6 engines which is available for commercial use but if they block it we can start serial production which is ready

We can't start the serial production now because unlike Turkey we can't export our product because of sanctions and that means lower demands which is not economically logical...

IRGC has enough spare PT-6 engines from its +25 Tucano fleet. Almost three decades of experience exists within IRGC in using this engine. How many S-149 they plan to manufacture? 10, 20, 50? No need to make a production line for copying PT-6 engine (even if they can) for such a limited number of application. Moreover, it is not something they cannot buy from open market, or obtain from friend countries such as Iraq. We don’t know the deal made between IRGC and Iraq for handing over their fleet of SU-25. They should have got valuable items in return. Once upon a time, Iraq had +120 Tucano’s, PC-6s, PC-7s with PT-6 engines. Therefore, assuming +20 spare engines in their hands won’t be illogical.
