Saudi King planning to visit India

New Delhi: Following the successful visit of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Suadi Arabia, King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia is now contemplating a visit to India.

Highly-placed sources told FE that, ‘‘Senior officials from Saudi Arabia who are accompanying governor of Riyadh, Prince Salman Ibn Abdul Aziz, will meet government officials to decide the dates for the visit’’.

‘‘It is too early to talk about the agenda as well as the dates. The preparatory work has just started,’’ said officials.

Presiding over the joint business meet of Ficci and Assocham in New Delhi, Aziz invited Indian industry to come forward and invest in Saudi Arabia as it provides security and higher returns. He also stressed on wider interaction to promote mutual investments.

According to officials, ‘‘Saudis are looking for Indian partners with technology to invest there.’’

An Ficci study states that, ‘‘Given the Saudi Arabia government’s heavy investment in education and the nurturing of the entrepreneurship culture as well as its dedication to generate jobs to meet the demands of the youthful and growing population’’, the estimated growth seems highly attainable.

Manufacturing of ICT hardware and development of software are already features of the market and these are set to expand further.
