US is not conducting total war in Afghanistan. US is trying to get out of there. There is no reason for US to be in Afghanistan. And US should get out of there ASAP if not for the Neocons. As a result, US is half foot in Afghanistan and half foot out of there. That is no war to fight a war and the results are prediction. However, India can help secure trade routes when US can use Indian ports as bases. This would also solidify relationship and really make India a very important ally.

British came as colonizers. Americans would come as a friend. Don't confuse between the two. US has no desire or wish to occupy an inch of Indian land. However, India can offer ports for US to refuel and resupply. This would be gladly accepted.

No military bases is our policy and USA just announced that it will station troops in 9 bases inside Afganistan.
