Breaking News : French President will be Chief Guest at Indian Republic day on Jan26th!!

@FrenchPilot @ranjeet @anant_s @Ind4Ever @Abingdonboy

According to NDTV just now, it is known that French President Mr. Hollande will be Chief Guest at India Republic Day on Jan26th. Big breakthrough on further Rafale deal is expected then!!

Modi on January 27 2015, signed a major nuclear deal with USA, he used the occasion well. He is set to do it again, Rafale deal will be signed on January 27 2016.

I called it first two weeks ago. :enjoy:

Sarenjen.

IAF have to get out of the VICIOUS circle of TOO MANY COMBAT TYPES

we know SU30MKI will upgraded to Super MKI

we know LCA is comin

FGFA as the 5th gen fighter is coming

THAT LEAVES ROOM for one meduim weight either RAFALE OR AMCA

MY GUESS once IAF comitts to 36 rafale IAF will get more the SAME

INDIA CANNOT AFFORD TWO FIFT GEN FIGHTERS.

IAF NEEDS 4 COMBAT TYPES MAX IDEALLY THREE

AMCA???? Is not a contender at this point. AMCA is good 15 years away, by that time half of Rafale life will be left.

By the way, look forward to Modi's visit to Russia. Russia is trying very hard to slow down Rafale numbers. It will be interesting to see how it pans out . Modi is expected to sign many deals. FGFA could be one of them.

If he does it will be for 36 Rafales. Nothing surprising about that.

Our moronic media is doing that job. Inviting guests and ruffling feathers is not such a great idea. :)
We should be thankful to him for accepting our invitation at this difficult hour.
We already preparing to showcase our Agni 4 and 5. Agni 5 has maximum range of over 5000 - 8500 Km. And can be modified in no time to expanding its range to 10000 km with 1 T nuclear war head.

But I want our parade to showcase maximum numbers of missiles like Russia and China than 1 missile in each type.

Dude, i'd highly doubt it.. I don't think so the deal will be signed before making the Russians Satisfied.. I think that's the one of the reason the deal was postponed to end of the year (After modi visit Russia to sign some deals) I think only by 25th or 26th of January the deal will be signed

I don't think so... FGFA is a heavy weight fighter while AMCA would be Medium category. and the Idea of AMCA was to disable foreign malls and stand on our own legs

Our friendship with Russia has nothing to do with Our relationship with French. We already made lots of efforts to satisfy and in fact our friend in need - Russians brothers. 12 billion dollars for S400 alone which is out of the planet deal. Now add new T90 purchase, T72 upgrades and many many more.

Am not sure about November 30 too. That's what a little bird humming!!! It's highly possible bro. But signing on ID visit make sense too.

And our purchase of rafale is already a done deal. Now the question is when we will complete negotiations for next 60+ batch made in India

Heard from a source about three things
1. DM MP is finally satisfied with Rafale deal costing around $6Bn (a lil more) as total ownership cost including weapons for 40 years
2. DM MP was originally suppose to discuss with PM Modi for just 36 rafales (no options also citing F3R cost higher) BUT a significant change has arose in last week where IN chief has indicated to look beyond US fighters (F35/F18) in our IAC2 (EMALS enabled). That leaves us with Rafale -M as a potential choice and IN is clear it does not want Mig 29Ks in IAC2 but a advanced 4.5 gen type aircraft which can sustain operation into 2060 timelines (37 years from 2023 implying a total 40 year plan package similar to IAF rafale acquisition)
3. This has prompted DM into discussing matters with FM and PM about Make In India part as if IN plans Rafale M then he is wanting MII route for that part not any flyaway acquisition.

The source also said Safran statement of not making M88 jets in India was in response to no chance of M88 participation in indian domestic project (AMCA). As and when MII part comes, Safran will put a similar facility like GE plant in Chikan,Pune "assembling" M88 series engine powering Rafales

The source also said there will be increase in cooperation between France and India in multiple fields especially as both are victims here and recently Russian Prez Putin and Prez Hollande seems to have buried a part of their issues because of both being victims to terrorists attacks and are united against ISIS for slaughtering innocent civilian citizens of both countries in a dastardly fashion. Its still long way away from being very normal but it seems finally there is a very bright chance now with India buying Russian Def stuff and similarly buying French stuff wont create issues like before where Russia did pressurize us a lot for Mistral mishap/fiasco. The situation is suppose to ease further post NaMo Russian visit and spendings to ease the concerns of India's biggest supplier.

BTW very important part of this information is how DM MP reacted when he realized about Rafale fast becoming a choice for IN (French ACC visit and joint exercise seems to have won IN over completely with scope of localised production if tagged along with IAF order). A babu suggested that a new tender be floated for medium weight jet and in RFP we mention a clearly a requirement of Naval variant of the same with TOT and localised production and 30% of the requirement as off the shelf. DM MP lost his cool at that point and said clearly there is no scope for a new MMRCA saga story under NDA government at any point of time and wasting next 7-10 years. He said he will inform FM and PM and see what best can be done for MII part and see the best possible package but doubted clearly the TOT part which makes it very costly. He felt it would be in the hands of PM NaMo and Prez Hollande "leap of faith" for a long term sustainable relationship and see how MII ambition is worked out.

@FrenchPilot France's Presidents have probably been chief guests more than any other country (like the heads of Japan, USA etc.)

India has been a part of Bastille Day parades too

India's defense needs depend on the following critical partners. Now Russia & Israel are missing as India is still shy about it's dealings with Israel while it's relationship with Russia is much more mature and does not need such PR.

1) Russia

2) Israel

3) France

4) USA

More than rafaels it will be terrorism that will main focus. India will share its sympathy on bataclan incident and draw parallels to 26/11. India will ask europe do more on terrorism and french are the right ppl to take it up inside EU.

Expect some more indirect admonition and pressure against pakistan to act against terrorists.

This sound just about Right.

IN again saves the day  ..... as predicted IN has put its foot down and has refused F35 and has opted for Rafale as Plan B (over AMCA).

If this works out then IN will need at least 50 Rafale and now its upto to France to make the ToT reasonable and workable. (This however is unlikely).

I am fairly certain France is not going to back down on the price and this alone will ensure Rafale will not get built in India. It would take a certain foresight from France to tie up with India and if history is any guide, France always came second in class. Its UK which always demonstrated Strategic thinking. And sadly History always repeats itself.

IAF maintains the natural transition of its fighters. ..

Su 30 mki's natural progression is fgfa.

LCA natural progression is AMCA.

Mirage natural progression is rafales.

Notice how IAF maintains it's preference.
It has rejected all other options and offers which would have jumbled up coordination.

Like....buy two and get one free?? :D

Seriously, there's zilch chance of buying more Rafales as we are already in the process of upgrading our SUs to Super Sukhois as well as hastening the co-development of the FGFA which was agreed to in principle during Parrikar's visit to Russia recently.

Mr. Intolérant meets Shri असहिष्णु when Intolerant India shows it's weapons of Mass destruction to the world........!!!
