Hamas realized they did a huge mistake by breaking the cease fire. Never seen so much confusion in their statements:
- First they denied capturing a soldier.
- Then they admitted claiming that it happened before the truce in 7:30 (which is obvious lie since according to Palestinians themselves artillery fire resumed after 10:00).
- Then they say they dont know.
- They they said that abduction indeed happened but the group was killed in Israeli shelling.
There was no captured soldier. Palestinians only began hearing that since Israeli media began leaking such information which makes it highly suspicious. Israeli army policy does not allow low rank soldiers to leak information to mainstream media outlets. Yet they did do so.

No they didn't. They stated there was an ground offensive in southern Gaza which resulted in a defensive gun fight against Israeli forces and led to multiple deaths on each side. The attack Israel is talking about was before cease fire and was inside Gaza. There was no captured soldier either. It was a rumor.
.............
Summary:
Cease fire agreed upon meant Israeli operations on their side of the border. Not inside Gaza.
This incident happened inside Gaza, specifically city of Rafah. Israel did NOT adhere to terms which were cessation of ground operations in Gaza.
And they kept going on advances, until they reached this building where Hamas finally responded and got in a gun fight but captured one in the process. Which is perfectly justifiable.
Keep in mind, only Israel is claiming a MIA. Hamas has not confirmed that.
After that, Israeli began indiscriminately bombing/shelling Rafah killing at least 120 civilians and injuring over 700.
