An attack on a consulate held of a india a nation that is giving weapons to the afghan regime who is the enemy of the Afghan Taliban and somehow it is blamed upon us. The eastern southern region is a Taliban hub and they carry these attacks out but blame us as usual.

As for being privy to the party. I an curious what would india bring to the table. Pakistan has influence on Taliban and is neighbour who is effected by the war, America in the occupier and represent and brings the afghan govt and China is the super power of the region and the world that stands the neutral party. India has no influence on the Taliban and is no neighbour yet they speak as they have first rights to the peace talks.

Anyhow I hope nobody is hurt and I hope the authorities and the military tackle the situation in a professional manner and all the attackers are killed and even the property damage is kept to the minimal so there are no victories.

Any peace process in south asia will be incomplete without India. Peace and stability in the region is most desirable by India as it has the largest chunk of geography and demography in the region. World has seen what a taliban regime is all about. Afghanistan under taliban was completely chaotic and lawless. Their medieval goernance was taking Afghanistan to stone age. The only Afghans who could challenge the talibans are the northern alliance who have the support of India and they too have full faith in India. So if a nation supporting taliban can be part of peace process then the nation which supports the northern alliance should also be a party to it. In fact china's locus standi is doubtful for being indifferent to afghanistan.
If a prolonged peace is desired in Afghanistan then nations supporting talibans and northern alliance should get represented else it will have no meaning. Secondly, taliban and northern alliance can not be compared as talibans are terrorists while northern alliance is not.

Because India has no role to play .. No influence on Taliban or other fighting factions .. No leverage on anybody apart from former NA Warlords sitting in afghan government .. And uses afghan soil for proxy war against other countries ...
The fact that Indian missions are targetted in Afghanistan gives a reason to India to be part of the peace process. Talibans are terrorists and should be dealt with the same way Al Qaida was dealt and ISIS is being dealt with. The only sane and logical people in Aghanistan from amongst the militants are the northern alliance. The only proxy thing India will do in Afghanistan is to give strength to the northern alliance while negotiating peace. Talibans should be kept out of any power sharing for at least next 2 decades.
Lets not make Afghanistan a place to settle Indo-Pak disputes. Afghanistan deserves peace at all costs.

They are simply attacking India’s presence in Afghanistan, whenever they get the opportunity, said Mr. Karzai in an exclusive interview.
In the fourth attack since 2007, terrorists, including suicide bombers, struck the Indian consulate in Jalalabad city of Afghanistan on Wednesday, killing nine persons and causing damage to the chancery.

The External Affairs Ministry in New Delhi said all Indians in the mission were safe and six terrorists, who carried out the attack, were dead. While two terrorists blew themselves up, four militants were killed by the Afghan police. Two civilans were also killed in the crossfire.

MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup said in New Delhi that the consulate was damaged in the attack.

Karzai points finger at Pakistan

The attack on the Indian consulate in Jalalabad on Wednesday is part of a trend of such attacks launched from Pakistan, said former Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai.

“They are simply attacking India’s presence in Afghanistan, whenever they get the opportunity. The whole spectrum of the India-Afghan relations, the relationship itself, is the target of the attacks”, Mr. Karzai toldThe Hinduin an exclusive interview in Delhi hours after a suicide squad targeted the Indian mission in Jalalabad.

According to the Afghan police, two persons were killed and 19 injured after Afghan security forces battled a group of gunmen outside the mission, which is in the diplomatic district. The attack began when a suicide bomber detonated a car full of explosives outside the consulate, after which three other assailants were killed by security forces.

The area had beentargeted on January 13as well when nine persons were killed and 12 injured after a suicide bomber struck the diplomatic area. Since the Pakistani consulate was closest to the site of attack, officials had said it was unclear which embassy was the target.

The attack on Wednesday is also the third such major strike on an Indian mission since May 2014, with the last attack onJanuary 3 this year in Mazar i Sharif. In that incident, the ITBP and Afghan forces had fought off the gunmen after battling them for nearly a day as they launched rocket attacks on the mission.

“What is there in the relationship between India and Afghanistan that would irk someone so much that they would come and attack the Indian consulates, or attack Afghanistan”, asked Mr. Karzai during the interview, adding that terror emanating from Pakistan was the single reason for problems between Afghanistan and Pakistan as well.

The spate of attacks also follow Prime Minister Narendra Modi’svisit to KabulandLahore on December 25last, when he had announced the transfer of four attack helicopters to Afghanistan, the first time India had provided Afghanistan with lethal hardware. While Mr. Karzai said he didn’t think the attacks were linked to “any one specific decision by India”, he said the common link was the origin of the groups carrying out the attacks.

“Each of those attacks has originated from across the border, from the neighbouring Pakistan. That’s where the origin of this trouble is: the Lashkar-e-Taiba is from there, the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Jaish-e- Mohammad, all these outfits are from Pakistan. So, the sanctuaries, the training grounds, the financial factors and the motivating factors are all inside Pakistan, and come from across the border”, Mr. Karzai, who has been a strong critic of Pakistan, said.

According to him, there was no possibility Afghans carrying out attacks on Indian missions, including the one in Jalalabad, because of India’s popularity in the country. “There will never be an Afghan-motivated, Afghan-financed attack on Indian interests in Afghanistan. There never was and there can never be, because India is seen as the greatest friend of Afghanistan, historically and today”, he said. However, to a question whether India should increase its security presence in Afghanistan, Mr. Karzai said while it was only natural for Indian personnel to protect Indian missions and interests, there was no other requirement for its presence otherwise at present.

Why because most of them exist due to india in the first place ? Ironically all those countries where India player its proxy wars today despise her and her hegemony! And in no peace process did they involve india..

Peace and stability in the region is most desirable by India as it has the largest chunk of geography and demography in the region.

Had territory been some sort of caliber nations like Kazakhstan have more chances of bringing peace in Afghanistan due to shared religion, history and territorial closeness... Not india.. Which has no dog in the race... Minus sponsored terrorists using afghan soil.

World has seen what a taliban regime is all about. Afghanistan under taliban was completely chaotic and lawless. Their medieval goernance was taking Afghanistan to stone age.

Afghans welcomed the Taliban after they saw NA warlords and their attrocities first hand... Google videos of Afghans welcoming Taliban to Kabul in the 90s.... The Taliban govt was still better than the soviet supported genocidal commits or NA rapists.. or even the current setup comprising those same warlords.

The only Afghans who could challenge the talibans are the northern alliance
Who butchered Pashtuns and even eachother? And are accused of massacres, rapes and looting ? The same ones that destroyed eachothers ethnic communities? That are numerically a minority ?

who have the support of India and they too have full faith in India.
India supported the soviet invasion aswell... Than the brutal NA warlords who were defeated.. Faith lol... india supported then with money, weapons to kill others and a few airlifts to fakhor AB .. So much for support.. Several nations did that and most of them are talking to Taliban today... Iran the biggest supporter of NA is holding meetings with Taliban...

So if a nation supporting taliban can be part of peace process then the nation which supports the northern alliance should also be a party to it.

Are you going to beg for that now ? Are you going to beg PAK? or USA for a role ? There is a good reason India has never been invited in such summits or peace processes... Not just because it has no fish to fry but also because even Americans know indias support for terrorisim against Pak from afghan soil.

Pak controls Afghanistan in al isr all ways due to geography, history, shared ethnicity, religion and geo politics .. Like it or not..

In fact china's locus standi is doubtful for being indifferent to afghanistan.

China is a global power... It borders Afghanistan .. It has economic and social links with Afghanistan and also is Paks best buddy.. It has everything to do with what happens in Afghanistan..

Lol.. Had it been the case .. Iran not india (would have been representing NA (which officially doesn't exist -- because it's in power)....
NA is also condemned by international HR groups and UN for mass brutalities much worse than Taliban ....

As for terrorists .. Who are you to say that when US doesn't consider em that either ?

No substance just rants.

Please stop using afghan soil to co duct terrorist activities in Pak ?

India is not on the peace table does not mean India is not involved. We do provide moral, material and other back end support to afghan government and non taliban groups during the peace process and ensure they are not put to a disadvantage. Taliban does not want to face people and elections but they want power. Taliban may represent some pashtuns but NA is represented by all ethnics including pashtuns. Hamid Karzai, Ghani and Abdullah are all pashtuns and yet opposed to talibans. India's relations with all SAARC nations except Pakistan are very liberal and positive.
Pakistan wants to give concessions to talibans on the negotiating table but India will ensure that they either face elections or remain shunted. By not being on negotiating table helps India pursue her stand more strongly. We are absolutely satisfied with our diplomatic efforts in Afghanistan and thats why our missions are under attack.

Hatred by Indians is disgusting.

Mr. Karzai knew within hours of attack that it was Pakistan!? That fool did not know what is happening in his country even when he was the President. His rule was limited to his palace in Kabul. And what historical ties is he referring to? A question for Indians; do you feel proud that Afghans used to attack India? Let's start with Mehmood Ghaznavi!

.
What a timing Its co much correlation with Pak high level visit and Terrorist activities .I wonder who sabotage this every time. No one is crazy when they are official visit to meet top man some thing like this happened .Great Game India is playing.

He was from Ghazni. Question still stands. So I ask you again. How much do you love your brother Mehmood Ghaznavi? I'm waiting for your answer!

.
NATO and USSR also believed so.

Situation is different. We have good relation ship with Afghanistan government and Taliban both. When USSR was forced to go, It was US which was helping rebels and wise a versa. You guys have made many attempts to harm our consulates but you failed to harm us ever. Every time your attack ended up killing innocent afghans. You are getting many things in return.
