BREAKING: DRDO test fires cruise missile Nirbhay from a defence range off Odisha coast.

.
Lol, I did not even mention DRDO.

You missed out on the most crucial part of my riposte didn't you?
Strawman much....

Americans have failed, the frontiersmen of cruise missiles.
CRUISE MISSILES which are in a sense more complicated to R&D than BMs.
Food for thought.

Forget cruise missiles any missile would need a bevy of tests before induction but sure, it is much more "logical" to believe that 1 test is enough or no failures have occurred.

No sirji, God bless you.:coffee:
Well, Arsanal is correct... for example... India was successful in reaching Mars in its first attempt, whereas everyone else failed. Same way we shouldn't question never failed Babur... :police:

Congratulation DRDO, failures in test will only make it more lethal in action.:toast_sign:

.
On Nirbhay test, there is more to it than what meets the eye.
We have to wait 2-3 days for the final conclusion.

. .
Well i was not keeping the count so i used "countless". It is not to insult you or anyone. If you felt that way, i am sorry and i take it back.
And sorry, but you ARE WRONG about Babur being inducted before it was test fired so that is that! :)

It succeed countless time. I do not keep counts.

Bhubaneswar: India on Tuesday test-fired the indigenously-designed and developed long-range subsonic cruise missile Nirbhay from an Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur in Odisha's Balasore.

The missile, with a strike range of 1,000 kilometer, was test-fired from a specially-designed launcher from the launch complex-3 of the ITR, defence sources said.

The cruise missile is expected to supplement the Indo-Russian joint venture supersonic cruise missile BrahMos, which can carry warheads up to 290 kilometer.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) sources said the Nirbhay missile test was "successful".

It travelled along a pre-designated flight path and homed in on the target, the sources added.

Powered by a solid rocket motor booster, the Nirbhay missile, with a turbo-fan engine, is guided by a highly advanced inertial navigation system.

Capable of carrying 24 kinds of war weapons, the missile is able to target multiple places simultaneously.

It was the fifth launch of the missile in the last five years. Out of the last four, three had failed in past years.

The missile had achieved success during the second test in 2014. The maiden test flight of Nirbhay was held on 12 March, 2013.

DRDO Conducts Successful Flight Trial of 'NIRBHAY' Sub-Sonic Cruise Missile

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) achieved yet another feat today with the successful test flight of ‘NIRBHAY’ - India’s first indigenously designed and developed Long Range Sub-Sonic Cruise Missile which can be deployed from multiple platforms. It was successfully test fired from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, Odisha. The missile has the capability to loiter and cruise at 0.7 Mach, at altitudes as low as 100 m. The flight test achieved all the mission objectives completely from lift-off till the final splash, boosting the confidence of all scientists associated with the trial.

The missile took-off in the programmed manner and all critical operations viz. launch phase, booster deployment, engine start, wing deployment and other operational parameters demonstrated through autonomous way point navigation. The guidance, control and navigation system of the missile is configured around the indigenously designed Ring Laser Gyroscope (RLG) and MEMS based Inertial Navigation System (INS) along with GPS system. The missile majestically cruised for a total time duration of 50 minutes, achieving the range of 647 km. The missile was tracked with the help of ground based radars and other parameters were monitored by indigenous telemetry stations developed by DRDO.

Raksha Mantri Smt Nirmala Sitharaman, hailed the success of DRDO Scientists and complimented them for this inspired achievement. She was optimistic that this successful trial would take India to the select League of Nations for possessing this complex technology and sub-sonic cruise missile capability.

Chairman DRDO and Secretary Department of Defence (R&D), Dr. S Christopher, DG (Aero) Dr. CP Ramanarayanan, Director ADE, RCI , ITR and CEMILAC, along with other senior DRDO scientists and user representatives from Army witnessed the momentous launch and congratulated the team ‘NIRBHAY’ for making DRDO proud for the long awaited achievement.

here comes the official confirmation we've been waiting for
650km range, actually reduced range. Is it because of new turbojet engine?

. .
When Pakistan test fired Babar Indian used to say this is useless missile very slow Indian soldier can down this missile with their assault rifle lollipop [emoji517]
But after so many attempts they only got failure hopefully this time the saga end in successful test and so they can move to new project of developing intergalactic missile destroying far away galaxy [emoji50]

. .
May be those some here did got it right!! :)
Just a possibility,, right?

I am sure you wont say that since Nirbhay failed countless time, EVERY other cruise missile project should have failed multiple times or else it is all a sham. :)

Did you just corner me?
