BRAHMOS 2

Damn, this is going to be a game changer! As is there are no true counter measures for Bhramos 1 so Bhramos 2 will attack with impunity for sure. And the 290Km range is pure nonsense, the actual range is many times more than this.
Well in war time, who cares about MTCR. or whatever the treaty is. But what should be expected undeclared range, that is also a major question.

Yeah but they already have a working prototype and the last test that failed was not because of major flaw. BTW you are right about the material part. This is way too crucial for our other projects too.

Are we underestimating USA ??? I really think they have something so they are that quiet

And the special coating developed to reduce the friction at high speeds will be handy here.

But most serious part is the observation after delivering payload

Payload will be delivered at hypersonic speed. Ok can be achieved. But how the Delivey vehicle is going to observe the damage at hypersonic speed ??? It surely has to come down to subsonic to do that. Or is there any tech capable enough to do the job at that speed ???

seeing India's development pace with regard to its indigenous weapon platforms coupled with indomitable spirit of India, see you after another 20 years to discuss something again about this topic.

No its russian missile , so no development delay

Maybe something like fire and forget. Probably the warhead or whatever it is that is launched will keep communicating with the delivery system until impact? Which will then be sent to base? Also I dont think it has to come to subsonic, cuz hypersonic must be SO fast, that it might only take a few seconds before impact. :D Of course I dont know if that is the case but...just saying :D

all valid points

most likely payload must be streamlined externally so when it detaches , there is no additional drag on the delivery vehicle .

about observing i have no idea, maybe someone else can propose a theory? or possibly "on the return flight!!!"

I don't think it is possible to ***** the damage, when it is flying in hypersonic.
How to land this think in that speed. Range will be reduced. More ques...

this was the Soviet demonstrator vehicle.....so the ground work is there...
It will be interesting to see how the project proceeds...now that two countries have joined hands on this...

It may be noted that a cruise Missile isn’t always something that flies below radar horizon...
Hypersonic vehicle HAS to fly high otherwise its not physically possible to go hypersonic not even for a material as hard as diamond will burn away in the thick layer of Plasma and abundant oxygen at lower altitudes..
The cruise altitude for this vehicle may be 90,000 feet and above....
Its called cruise missile because its not following the gravity dictated Parabolic path followed by Ballistic missile....and flying under own power all along the path...

Artists impression of Finished Product...

A platform travelling at Mach 7 and a distance of 290KM?? both don't match up.
by the time it hits mach 7 it would have covered well over 290 kms.

No it doesn’t make any sense at all....
The vehicle will have to rise to 90,00 feet and above to reach Hypersonic speeds and by that time 290miles will have gone already.....

The range has to be much greater than 290 miles..But for now they may not be willing to declare it due to certain International laws...

you are right, there's no specifications on the height of the trajectory but as you said it has to be high to achieve Hypersonic flight.

you are right ! even for starting scramjet to function it has to reach certain speed , so it is no way within 290 kms.

The range is 290 km......God's honest truth

But then stating that it will acquire a speed to mach 7 does give away many things as you have explained. And such statement coming from a senior official does convey certain things.
