Born Pakistani, he died a Hazara

I live in NY, what you said is pretty much how it goes.

Yes we Punjabis are given bad cred we are a lot more tolerant than people give us credit for my uncle is Hazara Shia and most of my family is split between Wahhabi, Sunni, or Naqshbandi Sufi but we co-exist perfectly it is the uneducated masses who are the most intolerant regardless of ethnicity.

No offense but Punjabis are very discriminatory against other ethnicity's. I remember once i was speaking Urdu to this Punjabi manager of a store i was working in NYC and he got offended because i was speaking Urdu, he asked me from where i was from in Pakistan and i told him Lahore, he tells me in a demeaning manner "you should go to Karachi" or something of that sort.

My parents speak Punjabi but they raised me to speak Urdu however i can understand Punjabi (most of it), and it pi$$es me off so much that such ethnocentric and discriminate people live in Pakistan, no wonder we have such honest leaders.

Everyone's got a rotten egg amongst them ! I'm an ethnic Kashmiri who is a lover of all things Punjab and Punjabi simply because of the love and sense of inclusivity that was shown to my father's side of the family when they came from a town near Gulmarg (near Srinagar) and settled in Rawalpindi and later Lahore. I'd defer with you very strongly on the point that 'Punjabis are very discriminatory' for we, Punjabis (there thats how much I identify with them), are probably the only ethnicity in Pakistan which practiced 'Jinnah's Muslim and Pakistani first and everything else second' mantra the best. You'd find millions of non-ethnic Punjabis in Punjab (the Punjabi Baloch, the Punjabi Kashmir or in your case the Punjai Pukhtoons) - looog to harr jagaa keh achee hotei hain but have you ever heard a single Punjabi politician exclaim how these Non-Punjabis have taken up our jobs, effected our vote-bank, failed to assimilate because they don't speak our language (I too speak Urdu as my mother tongue) or other sh*t that ethno-nationalist in other Provinces talk about ? Heck even Punjab's largest party is led by two ethnic Kashmiris !

I live in NYC never come across something like that I was raised speaking Urdu but I understand Punjabi usually when I come across Punjabi's they ask me if I speak Punjabi I be like no they talk to me in Urdu no problem. (I'm Punjabi btw)

This story shows the need for education and tolerance in Pakistan just heart breaking.

The manager of the store was from Gujrat (no, not indian Gujrat, this Gujrat is different), usually Lahoris don't care if you speak Urdu or not.

I agree, not all of them are like that, maybe i haven't met discriminatory Pashtuns or Balochis yet (i have never met a Balochi in my life) which is why my view is kind of biased and i hope i don't meet any more discriminatory people be they of any background.

I've never lived in Gujrat but my mother's (who is a Rajput) ancestral village is near Gujrat called 'Awan Shareef' ! I've spent some time over there, I've interacted with the People, I've sat down with them to break bread at their evening gathering at the village centre (dunno why they do it but they do it every day) and the worst I've been called is 'Gora Babu' owing to my complexion and the shorts I'm fond of wearing ! So no I don't think the villagers are like this either.

P.S Sargodha is anything but Lahore and yet it has a huge, thriving community of Baloch settled over there !

This article totally depresses people like me. I have served my country without question and I wonder if people like us have any place to go to. Patriotism just isn't valued in the country anymore.

Are you a Hazara ?

No. But ethnic and religious tensions aren't just a problem for the Hazara community. The Hazara aren't the only ones who feel these divisions tearing the very fabric of Pakistan apart.

I am ex lord of the PNA-Canada chapter. The Canadian government caused a lot of hurdles for us but what greatly dismayed me was the division of our own people. Our people were divided into so many factions that even a noble cause such as Pakistani Nationalism is being hindered.

Perhaps the most depressing thing for me however was when I joined a particular Pashtun forum. Never have I seen all my lifes work come to nothing... I have always tried to build unity and develop my people so that they come to a better standard of living. On that forum it looks like all I did was a waste because the divisions are so deep. People don't believe in Pakistan anymore.

The truth is we guys are patriotic. But we are only a section of the population.

Forgive my ignorance but what exactly is that ?

born Pakistani -- he died and turned to dust....like all human beings.

and who is the emotional idiot that wrote this masterpiece?

''chinky'' eyes? Isn't that a racist term in and of itself?

Man havi, I am depressed today as well. I got called a terrorist by fellow Pakistanis on this forum for being wahabi. The sad thing is I love all my Pakistanis. I don't know what happened to those times where we would listen to dil dil Pakistan. All that is gone these days and makes me very sad.

Ok...just go troll somewhere else :coffee:

The truth is we guys are patriotic. But we are only a section of the population.

Selfishness, sectarianism, ethnic-patriotism/provincialism and especially the unwillingness to forgive are all things that contribute to the ever diluting feel of Pakistaniyat.

If anything, it's the sane ones like us that should keep the spirit alive in my opinion; the rest are too busy blaming each other for their own short-falls.

Also, is it just me or are expats generally more into this Pakistaniyat thing compared to people in Pakistan?

.
Hazaras are not native to Pakistan or Balochistan Province of Pakistan. Most of them have migrated from Central Asia to Afghanistan and Pakistan, but that does not mean they should be killed. If they have migrated to Punjab Province of Pakistan instead of Balochistan Province...they would be living a much happier and safer life today because Punjabis welcome everyone with open arms.

Now you Wahabis are blaming others for the fitnah you caused

It is a known fact Wahabis are destroying Pakistan.

PAKISTAN USED TO BE ABOUT FRIENDSHIP, LOVE AND HOSPITALITY!

now it's about bombings, terrorism and acid attacks all because of the Wahabis..

Good job..Hope your proud..

you can claim I'm trolling.

But truth is I AM AVENGING THE DEATH OF MY FALLEN PAKISTANI'S. while your here laughing.
