ISTANBUL – Daily News with wires

Three soldiers and a teenager died Tuesday in a bomb attack on a military bus in Istanbul, broadcaster CNNTürk reported.

Six more people were wounded in the attack at 7:15 a.m. on the military shuttle that carries both soldiers and their families. Two of the wounded were in critical condition, CNNTürk said.

Istanbul Gov. Hüseyin Avni Mutlu announced that a remote-controlled fragmentation bomb was used in the attack in the city's Halkalı district.

CNNTürk also reported that a sound bomb exploded in Istanbul's central Beyoğlu district. The blast in front of a supermarket caused little destruction, CNNTürk said.

On June 8, a police vehicle was attacked in Küçükçekmece district, injuring 15 officers. The governor said a similar system might have been used in the previous attack.

Istanbul police chief Hüseyin Çapkın also confirmed that the two attacks might be connected.

An eyewitness told broadcaster NTV that he heard a blast while he was in his house and rushed to the street. “I saw a man running away after the blast. I also saw a man carrying a wounded girl and helped him,” the eyewitness said.

The outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK, has intensified its attacks on military since the end of May. Twelve soldiers were killed in clashes last weekend in southeastern Turkey between the military and the PKK, which is labeled a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union.

After the weekend attacks, the PKK told Agence France-Presse that it would launch attacks in cities, but Istanbul officials did not mention on any PKK connection with the Tuesday attack.

DİYARBAKIR – Daily News with wires

One Turkish soldier and seven members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, were killed Monday in northern and southern Turkey as the terrorist group intensified its attacks across the country.

One soldier died and three others were wounded along with four civilians and a village guard in attacks Monday on two military outposts in southeastern Turkey, broadcaster CNNTürk reported.

The outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK, attacked simultaneously at 8 p.m. Monday on Bağdere and Çatalköprü gendarme outposts in the Silvan town of Diyarbakır.

One soldier was killed and two others were injured as a group of five opened fire with shotguns on the outpost in Bağdere. Four civilians nearby were injured during the clash.

The five attackers tried to flee to a mountainous area near the town of Harzo but were caught and killed by the military, CNNTürk said.

Meanwhile, at the Çatalköprü outpost, the military clashed for 15 minutes with another PKK group, which attacked at the same time. The PKK members had gotten lost in the mountainous area after the clash.

Two PKK members killed in northern Turkey

The military killed two PKK members and injured and captured another during a clash in a rural area near Kelkit town in the northern province Gümüşhane.

Kelkit Mayor Muammer Duran said the clash broke as a group of PKK members fired on a military patrol that warned them to stop.

Update one of the wounded soldiers has died bringing the count to 4.

This is terrible. I hope your defense forces take care of these terrorists. Bombing has become a problem from every damn terrorist organization worldwide whether it is Taliban or this Communist PKK.

My condolences to the ones who have passed away.

The IED was inside a Pressure Cooker at the side of the road and remote controlled. It had a fragmentation blast.

May Allah Give them Best Place in heaven and patience to their Family.. I guess suspected Israeli support for Pkk.
