What's new

Bollywood is killing our film industry, say Pakistan’s actors

Already posted many times. The govt can take up few measures But its local film industry which has to improve itself i it wants that better movies from across should not harm it.

these days our film industry has financers not directors what you expect from a ***** financer

.
With tharki producers like Syed noor what can you expect......Our film industry will boost and touch the sky.....All the movies of syed noor includes Saima dancing in rain.....Movie starts in rain and movie ends in rain with saima dancing all 3 hours...

I remember my parents telling me there was a time when Pakistani drama was nothing but the best (apparently even Indians used to watch it because it was 'decent').

But lollywood deteriorated to trash! I mean, I went to Pakistan a few years ago and I turned on the T.V. What did I see? Some overdone woman slapping another overdone woman- and the special effects! The same slap was repeated with the camera turned in every angle, changed to negative color, zoomed in and zoomed out, saturated, played backwards and what not- it had special sound effects such as echoes too!

Come on, we're better than that!

Omigosh..... this is done even in Pakistan too!!?

Really sad... at times, we too are forced to watch stuff like this you know!

My sympathies!

Yeah I really hate the state of dramas atm... not that I'd watch them anyway!

Pakistanis blaming Bollywood for their own industry's failure is like India blaming USA for brain drain of IIt'ians and what not!

How is it Bollywood's fault if Pakistani films couldn't survive the impact?

It's always been survival of the fittest. It's nature's most basic law!

Pakistanis are NOT blaming Bollywood, just few directors who cannot make good movies themselves are crying out loud and making excuses. The mindset of pakistanis regarding this is evident from the replies in this thread!

Wrong! We don't blame Hollywood or Bollywood for the current state of our film industry. Our film makers are themselves responsible for this mess. Pak industry has produced some quality movies even upto 90's. Rather than worrying about the number of Bollywood movies, our film makers should concentrate on making few but quality movies. People will definitely watch them.

Pakistan's film industry needs to raise its calibre, this is the worst excuse they can give.

Every year a few good films come out proving that it can be done and people are willing to watch Pakistani movies if done right.

in the 60s & 70s our family industry was ahead of indian industry in terms of "ACTING & CONTENT" we had choclati heroes like waheed murad then nadeem! amazing story like AAINA and all!

but now our actors die to go to india and work in small roles and embarrass themselves look at javed sheikh, momar rana, meera & so on!

& our content in movies is appalling our dramas are still better though!! atleast they END AFTER 32 EPSIODES!

I don't think many pakistanis believe its Bollywood thats responsible, although bollywood does take up space.

Pakistanis should realize that other than bollywood, there's oter regional language film industy in India too, and some of them struggle and some thrive despite bollywood. It boils down to how good you are.

amazing story like AAINA and all!

Actually, my parents tell me that Aaina (1977) was a ripoff of Indian movies. Both sides copied each other.

But our remake of Aaina had superb songs!

In south Asian movies, acting and storytelling are secondary anyway. It's all about the songs, and Pakistani playback industry was absolutely top notch.

With lyricists like Sohail Rana, Qateel Shifai, musicians like G.A. Chishti, and vocalists like Mehdi Hasan, Masood Rana, Ahmed Rushdi, Mala Begum, Shehnaz Begum. etc. we had a killer combination! Many of our top notch talent was Bengali and we lost a lot when we lost East Pakistan.

Here's website I found that seems quite comprehensive: http://www.mazhar.dk/film/history/

Maan of Amir khan ripoff of An affair to remember

Hawas ripoff of Unfaithful.

Another movie of India copy for Collateral of Tom Cruise....

Same is on lollywood.....

So ripping off is old business both in bollywood and lollyywood......

The Pakistani film industry was equally as good as it's Indian counterpart until Zia wrecked it with his 'Islamic' laws in the early 80's.

Our films were excellent and even copied by India. Sadly the laws brought in by Zia destroyed the industry.

However as our film industry died, our music, fashion and TV industry rose to become very prominent.

Our films had something very unique: decency. I don't know why Zia tampered with them- they didn't show any obscenity nor anything against Islam. They just showed common society. Something that would appeal to an average family.

Now our dramas, etc are the opposite and they teach the opposite!

No, Aina was copied by India four times, three of the four copies include Aaina, Raja Hindustani and Chalte Chalte.

Here is a song of Aina which is copied directly by another film starring Bachan.
