@Gibbs has no idea how many tens of thousands of Sri Lankan folks we have allowed to live and work in Bangladesh when their country was in turmoil, and still do. Compared to how Indians have treated Sri Lankans, we have been saints. The recent Buddhist led terrorist attacks on Sri Lankan Muslims are giving me some doubt in recent times. I always thought these were educated open minded folks.

I guess it's just another manifestation of the global rise of far right, not limited to SL.

Regarding the Rohingya issue, even though they have this Buddhist connection with Myanmar, I found most Lankans to be largely neutral on this issue. Quite rightly so, since, keeping religion aside, SL has more in common and more to do with Bangladesh than Myanmar, be it culture, economy or security. Even the SL government is also trying to strengthen its relations with Bangladesh with some high profile visits to Dhaka and signing of agreements in recent times.

I agree @Gibbs' enthusiastic interest on this matter seems a bit strange. He apparently relies on social media posts by Burmese people as the main source of information. I haven't seen other SL members in PDF taking any interest on this matter though.

1. Topic was Rohingyas, hence the reason I stick to it and didn't bring illegal Bangladeshis in India and Pakistan.

2. Stay on topic and don't deflect. You can't just simply start abusing everybody just because you don't agree with their opinion. A Pakistani guy says something, BDshis start abusing and blaming Pakistan for Rohingyas. An Indian says something and gets the same treatment. Chinese get the same treatment, Russian too. Seen it all happen right here in last half a year. After all, everybody is responsible for your problems except Bangladeshis themselves.

3. SInce you broght India/Pak into it, You should support India when they start kicking out your illegal Bangladeshis right back into BD which might happen sooner than later as we speak. I hope, Pakistan learns something outta it and find a way to send back illegal Bangladeshis from Pakistan too. As you know, there are legal Bengalis here and then there are illegal Bangladeshi squatters who ran away from their land of milk and honey BD.

4. Learn something from your mistakes and stop sending your surplus population to other countries illegally. Enough is enough. Other countries are not responsible for your over population. 1 country can be wrong, but 3 countries cannot be. Just because there are 10k legal bengalis in some country, doesn't mean you can send 1 million illegal Bangladeshis and then cry about about how that country is oppressing them by denying them rights and how they can't send back their 'own' citizens.

At least in Myanmar side , before the attacks ( 2010s ) they dont need to work as UN gave full support for food , medicine and other facilities. to get all these support , just need one work to say " i am rohingya". done.!! if u ever have a chance to get to UNHCR office in Malaysia , u will see many bangali are trying to be rohingya and UNHCR card as they want to go third countries.
