BoI shocked at lack of investors’ interest in Gwadar

There is always an alternative. Given the global economic situation, it maybe more suitable to actually acquire promising or critical but failing manufacturers around the world that may find home in Pakistan. There are many such entities that can allow Pakistan a foot in the door and be a building block for development.

Pakistan's external debt to GDP ratio is TWICE that of India.
Most of Indian debt is domestic, settled in INR while Pakistan has to pay a hell lot of forex to settle its debt and its forex reserves have been empty for a long time.

Pakistan's external debt is mostly in dollars.......and USD supply is increasing at warp speed. Great for USD debtors.

LOL!

Trouble is, PKR is highly overvalued and has been propped artificially using loans. And yet in past 6 months its value has been going down like a stone in the pond. And Pakistan is running out of loan options to keep PKR afloat. So influx of USD in market is still not a good news for Pakistan.

You need money for that. Pakistan does not have that kind of money to go on a shopping of troubled assets. Besides, it will be hard to shift workers of the said plants to Pakistan.

US economy is driven by import consumption......and its wants to diversify supply chains. Pakistani exporters are seeing increase due to this.....this will continue. USA will ultimately monetize Pakistan's external debt for it.

CAD is caused by import surge caused by energy price spikes. This is becoming less and less a issue as Pakistan increases its domestic energy production.

Brother WHAT?

You know what is the size of Pakistan's exports to USA? 4.8 billion dollars. https://www.census.gov/foreign-trade/balance/c5350.html

Do you know how much it imports from just Mexico? 351 billion dollars! https://www.census.gov/foreign-trade/balance/c2010.html

And these are just goods!

Pakistan is at most 1.5% of Mexico's exports to USA. And US cares very little about Mexico. So, I guess, you can think how much it will care about Pakistan and its woes.

Lastly, it is wrong to say US economy is driven by import consumption... USA GDP is 21 trillion dollars. Its total imports are less than 3 trillion dollars. It only imports about one seventh of what is produces domestically.

Pakistan, however, has a GDP of less than 300 billion dollars. It imported good and services worth 56 billion dollars in 2019 alone. Thats more than a sixth of its GDP.

Your getting worked up. Americans don't care where their products are made.....as long as they work and are cheap. Pakistani exports to USA are increasing and will continue to do so. Biggest product USA is producing is trillions of dollars created by key strokes at the federal reserve    . USD debtors are having a jubilee at this time.

There's a saying in Urdu:

"بستی بستے بستے بستی ہے"

It'll take time, that way it would be a solid city.

Gwader can be made winter capital of the province. It'd streamline the activities and set a benchmark.

And Baloch leadership sitting abroad can be offered CMship of Balochistan, for extended period i.e. ten years. Hopefully they'll accept this offer and come to normal life in the country.

Most investment has to come from local sources.....only after a boom starts will foreign investors come.
So true. Hopefully local investors can build up small resorts along the coast to make people more willing to go to Gwadar. Gwadar probably still feels a world away for people from Karachi, much less the rest of the country.

I would love the coast to be dotted with small towns in the hills (if the landscape/soil suites it) like the Amalfi Coast

1- Solve Water Situation
  • Nuclear energy
  • Desalination plant
2- Develop Urban Society like Bahria Town as Model for Gwadar City
  • Bahria Town Model = Best model for Gwadar
3- Offer incentive to Pakistani Tech Companies to Open Offices in Gwadar (Tax Breaks)
4- Develop 5G+ Network for Internet
5- Develop Beach Area for Sight Seeing

The Money and growth will come from with in Pakistan

When housing societies will emerge in Gwadar, construction Jobs will move large demographics from Karachi/Lahore to Gwadar to join construction sector together with locals

New Restaurants and Trade centers will open organically in Housing Societies

Bahria Town has set standards very high if that model is adopted then we will easily see population growth in Gwadar

Of course there could be also Chinese Developers who can build some tremendous city zone by zone

If People are given
  • Safe home
  • Hospital
  • Banks
  • Schools
  • Parks
  • Sports

"Life Style" , Make a city which rivals UAE, UAE has set the global standard

I think Dubai Ports Should take over the port part , EMAAR the tourism part and Gwadar will put Pakistan on the map

Pakistan makes billions and the UAE makes billions. :P

UAE would be welcomed to come and bring their knowledge on urbanization , the Gwadar climate is very close to UAE

No one runs port better then China, they have control for 50-100 years on port

  • City has various housing zones and each zone should be given to different builders to develop a modern eco friendly city for UAE the opportunity lies in investment in housing sector in Pakistan

  • Desalination Water is another areas where Drinkable water can be created and sold to city and farming sector, this is an area where Saudia Arabian companies or UAE may play big role should they invest (Sell Desalinated Water to City of Gwadar)

For me the Local Builder has shown enough skills to develop Modern City like Bahria Town
Under development City Near Karachi

The Builder has necessary skills to construct a small city
